Yeah, it seems like the entry-level IT jobs are going to be hit hardest of all.
I can remember some getting into computer science and stressing the “future” importance of knowing how to program (they call it coding these days) in the latest languages (C, C++, Python, some java scripts). But if AI can do a lot of that now …. The worry used to be these H1B visa programmers brought in from overseas to work at the tech companies but now add to it this AI boom. <Sigh>

I was on the Authority boards (blue on black screens) in the early 00’s. Then it was said that the title was winding down, Millar was starting a new Marvel title and his own board so I signed up there. The old names Amy Kate, gabopagan, Wonk, etc.
So the Carrier is winding down before August. Maybe the last posting should be “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”

Last week in Chicago was the opening of the Obama center. A lot of people were there for it: George Bush and wife, the Clintons, and others. The old guard (if I can call them that?) are still around. I saw Al Gore on TV talking about the 20th anniversary of his environment movie, and Kamala Harris was on book tours and shows up now and then.
When 47 took over and ramped up ICE, and all these protests, people took out their frustrations protesting at Kamala Harris’ book signings and asking “Where is Obama in all this?” and where are the past leaders now? As if any of them can do something or have the drive anymore to start some social media soundbite war or protest movements. I guess once you have been in the public eye, the public will still obligate you to serve their interests. (Who knows?)

New York: The Canyon of Heroes is too small and narrow a parade route to celebrate a championship of the Knick’s magnitude.
Next time the city might have to do it on a broad 5th Avenue like they do the St. Patrick’s parade or maybe the parade route they have for Thanksgiving.
People were turned away. Subway stops were skipped. Some woke up at 4am to be there. Crazy.
But they won.

Knicks won the first two at San Antonio! I thought San Antonio was going to tie it up at 1 game apiece but the Knicks held on by one point.
Next 2 are in the big city. MSG!!!
But I seeing all these people going to the watering hole and pubs all over Manhattan to watch the game. People with Knicks jerseys and caps who I know I will never see again wearing them. 🤣

Fingers crossed that this is the year they win again (even better if they defeat San Antonio to do it).
Well the Spurs won Game 7 against Oklahoma. Oklahoma roster wasn’t at full strength so it is Knicks and San Antonio starting Wednesday. Should be good. I want Knicks in 6.
It would be nice to have a championship banner hanging from the Garden rafters for the first time in 53 years.

TIL: In 1998, when Toy Story 2 was in production, 90% of the files were accidentally completely erased, meaning the film would have to be scrapped. However, an animator Galyn Susman, took the hard drives home to work on while she was on maternity leave. Because she had backups of the files, the film was saved and released to rave reviews. However, in 2023, Pixar (under Disney’s ownership) laid her off in one of their sweeping waves, despite her saving the film (and likely the company) all those years ago.

That Voting Rights Act being gutted. All the 60s protests, marches, speeches, riots to get it all rolled back.
The same situation (although earlier) with Roe v Wade, affirmative action/DEI etc. All the struggles to get those rights/gains all being undone now.
As for the SCOTUS makeup now, there were 4 seats that would have went the other way. It hurts.
Well, here is to the ones who tried to do right by the people but are always outnumbered. (Makes me wonder about their workplace):

Ok. That puzzle: A room of 100 people with 99 of them left handed and one right handed. That’s 99/100 or 99% left handed in the room. Now… if 50 left handed left the room that would leave 1 right handed and 49 left handed. 49/50 comes out to 98% left handed.
