I agree about the pub name change. A fitting tribute.
I just saw Todd’s post over on Facebook.
I’ve drifted from this community since the change to the carrier but have tried my best to maintain connections i’ve made here in other ways. Miqque was probably one of the first of you I added as a Facebook friend.
I had been worried for Miqque as his online presence dwindled, he would always comment on pictures I shared of my boys etc, and out feelers out here recently because of that.
I am both shocked and saddened to hear of Miqques passing and feel even worse seeing the details of his death.
I too will be remembering as he was described above.
I just hope that he is now reunited with Gunny, as Inknow how hard he took that loss.
He was a stalwart here, and always had something interesting to contribute to every conversation. More than that he was an amazing source of good advice, always able to see the best possible course of action in most situations. This advice was often invaluable and I know for some here it was both life-saving and life-changing.
The world has lost an amazing individual and I have to say it is a real gut-punch addition to a fucking shitty year.
Sounds those characters/people make are similar to the sound of the riff when put together.
My Dad has been up to his usual tricks.
I did really well at Whamageddon last year.
This year, well as you can guess from the fronted adverbial, not so much.
I was stood on poolside on Monday preparing my class for their swimming lesson when my brain realised what it was hearing. The pupils looked confused as I started to mutter about whamaggedon under my breath.
Hail to the queen!
I bought a copy of Jaws: The Board Game recently.
Nice, one versus many mechanic which is split between two slightly different halves of a game.
In the first half one player is the shark, moving around the coast and trying to eat as many swimmers as possible. The shark uses hidden movement like Jack in Letters from Whitechapel or Mr X in Scotland Yard. The other players take the roles of Quint, Brody and Hooper trying to keep swimmers safe, locate the shark and attach barrels to it.
Once either the shark eats 9 people or has two barrels attached to it the board is flipped over to reveal The Orca.
In this section the humans are trying to kill the shark and the shark is trying to either eat the crew or sink The Orca. Again there is some aspect of hidden move, with the shark appearing at one of three random locations each round.
The game ends when either the shark is dead, the crew are eaten or The Orca sinks.
The game comes with a rather unimpressive triangular wooden token for the shark. At the weekend I stumbled across one of Wizkidz D&D miniatures of a shark. Seeing the opportunity to pimp my game I bought it.
Last night I finally got round to painting it.
So some of the players for the Steelers and Browns ended their Thursday night game by auditioning for the xfl.
While I can never justify Miles Garret’s decision to hit a player with their helmet, I am surprised less is being made of the Steelers QB trying to pull Garrets helmet off first and then kicking him in the crotch.
Everything I have seen so far is discussing how long Garret will be suspended for, how big his fine will be etc with Rudolph’s role as the instigator being totally overlooked.
*in my best impression of cbbc’s short lived character “The Anorak”*
Err…
No…
D&D 5e already has a vehicle proficiency stat, lorry driver would be proficient in land vehicles!
Also…
You can’t crit skill checks…
*end The Anorak impression*
My reply cannot be empty…
Local one, I’ve personally not seen the dome and really don’t see what all the fuss is about,

I set up Ticket to Ride: London last night for myself and Helen.
It is a really quick version of the basic Ticket to Ride game based around London with bus routes instead of train routes.
The only difference from the base game is that there is some area control scoring at the end, but this is very minimal.
Ticket to Ride is one of Helen’s favourite games but she really didn’t like this version. She felt it was too short and it was too hard to then go after additional routes.
I bought it because it was smaller and quicker, so I thought it would get the the table more often.
I’m back into the swing of regular weekly gaming.
Played The Artemis Project on Monday. A dice placement game with an interesting conveyor belt bidding mechanism for some of the actions.
I worked towards points from tableu building but was just pipped to the post at the end.
It was enjoyable but I did feel the rewards for having reached the maximum in some of the score areas (for example having built 8 buildings in your tableu) were not quite big enough – and not because I lost by two points!
A few weeks back I took Lo to Tabletop Gaming Live and we got a couple of new games. As yet only Lo and I have played any of them but I know they will go down well with the rest of the family.
Helen and I just left the cinema after seeing Joker.
I thought it was a good movie, a well made film. An uncomfortable watch at times but understandably so. If it had been an indie film without the DC link it would certainly be getting some buzz but it is the DC element that is dragging most of the audience in.
I tend to agree with what has been said upthread about the inclusions of The Waynes. I think that the scene between Arthur and Bruce didn’t need to be there and was very clunky. I didn’t mind seeing the alley scene again, it wasn’t dwelt on but slotted the timelines together nicely.
I am confused by the reaction some people are having to the film, the violence is not over the top or overused. It felt realistic, which fits the film, but a cause for leaving the screening? Fuck off!
I personally liked what Phoenix’s Joker became, there were shades of Ledger in it but at the same time a familiarity to the Joker of Killing Joke and Dark Knight Returns.
This may just be me but I couldn’t help but think of Heath Ledger dancing around in Ten Things I Hate About You when Arthur/Joker was dancing down the steps.
I was not certain how to take the final scene, was the entire thing just another delusion (like the dates?), or was this during his time at the hospital before the film, or was it after everything had taken place?
Ravens need a secondary… the last three weeks embarrassingly easy td’s have been scored by wide open receivers.
Pitsburgh just did it again.

If you could have one last meal before your glorious death in the Thunderball arena, what would you eat? A sampler of all the food of the world!
Top 5 fictional characters you’d go to Vegas with? hmm… Nick Campbell (Powereds) – someone with his connections would ensure we could have the best time without having to spend much/anything. Taco (The League) – The wildcard. Quint (Jaws) – The guys gotta have stories for years. Mal Reynolds (Firefly) – It’d be interesting to see what he thought of the place, plus more stories. Nitz (Undergrads) – It’s be interesting to see how such a neurotic guy dealt with this situation.
If you could visit one place, where would you go? This place, but as a real pub or similar.
If you had to room with another Millarworlder, who would you pick? Provably Garvey by virtue of him being the only forumitte I have actually met.
