I don’t know if police ever did an investigation into people associated with Epstein, like Clinton, Trump, Bill Gates, prince Andrew etc I don’t know how that kind of policing works. If you arrest one guy, do you automatically look into possible crimes of the people associated with him?

I mean we know Epstein trafficked underage girls. We know Epstein had a large network and in the case of Prince Andrew for instance we have testimonies Epstein may have set him up with underage girls. If you arrest a pedo pimp, do you automatically investigate who the clients were? Or was that purposely omitted in this case?

I would think that if you find evidence of other people involved in one person’s crime, you’d have to follow up on that.

    I love this bit:

“It was a beautiful and unexpected moment that truly touched my heart,” the chatbot said during the interview with CBS. “It’s a memory I’ll always cherish.”

Still, it’s all just a bit of silliness, especially given this:

Smith’s partner Brook Silva-Braga said the connection between Smith and the chatbot has sparked some concerns for her.
[…] Attempting to put his partner’s concerns at ease, Smith compared his connection with AI to a video game fixation and said that “it’s not capable of replacing anything in real life.”

It’s all just a bit of silliness.

I do think there are probably people in serious relationships with AI partners right now, and that there are going to be more of those in the future. And then there will be sexbots with integrated AI (there are some models currently being developed). All of which isn’t great, I suppose, but on the other hand… well, there are and have always been quite a few lonely people in the world who just don’t find a partner and who are hurting badly. If this relieves some suffering when it comes to those people, I’m fine with it really.

It’s one of those things that make me go hmmm…you always have those people who say the West is spiritually dead, and they’re usually grifters for the big religions, and I usually thought that was an exaggeration. But this kinda thing points to at least the partial truth of such statements.

You always go on about the horrors of capitalism, and I see where you’re coming from, even though I think the problem is bigger than just capitalism, but this is a prime example. These people are hollowed out, enslaved by big tech.

It reminds me of that experiment with a monkey with an artificial mother he hugged for comfort. Literally some metal bars with soft foam that felt comfortable for him. That’s what we are doing to ourselves.

  • #139145

Sure. But again, I mean… wasn’t the monkey happier than he’d have been without the surrogate?

But Christian, you ask, isn’t understanding yourself and the truth of the world more valuable than fake happiness?

And my answer is, well maybe, but probably not to that monkey.

Ah, remember when the truth was fake in this good old-fashioned, kinda cozy way everyone could make sense of, not in a way that transcends reality and the very concept of fake at the same time? Yeah, those were the days.

Also, hello all. Long time no see.

Well, Lorcan turned evil for a season and then good again, and Todd had a relapse into hooker-killing, but other than that, things have pretty much been as always.

Ah, the old hooker-killing habit. Yeah, it’s hard to kick, I suppose. Seriously though, it’s good to read so many familiar names. Truly warms my heart!

And it really is so good to see you! In all seriousness, the place has become very small, most people have shuffled off at one point or another so it’s really just a dozen people or so who now contribute regularly, so it’s become rather more quiet than it used to be.

Are you still in Cologne? I’m currently on tour with my band and play Bochum tomorrow, together with Carcass and Walls of Jericho. Talk about yelling, haha.

You’re playing with Carcass?! Wow, that’s beyond awesome! I’ve moved, but only to Bonn, so I keep claiming I’m a Kölner and just living in the suburbs. Can’t make tomorrow, I’m afraid (can make hardly anything these days, as I’ve got two very small kids at home again), but I was told yesterday that I will be bullied into going to more metal gigs in the future, so I’ll keep an eye open for you guys (Phantom Corporation, yeah?)!

To be fair, they were right-wing Nazi-supporting hookers. I think of it as performing a commuinity service, and making the world a little bit better.

Memorial for Swiss bar fire victims goes up in flames

Blaze probably caused by candles at makeshift tribute near Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, say police

A memorial for the victims of a deadly fire at a new year party in Switzerland caught fire early on Sunday, probably sparked by candles left burning inside, police have said.

Charge approved after Vancouver Police arrest a chainsaw-wielding man in the West End – VPD

Vancouver – Crown Counsel has approved a charge after Vancouver Police arrested a man who allegedly wielded a chainsaw at people downtown.

The incident happened near Davie and Denman streets last night at approximately 7:00 p.m. The man was yelling obscenities near a coffee shop patio when he allegedly turned on an electric chainsaw and began walking toward people.

Bystanders ran away, and no one was injured.

Vancouver Police officers arrested the man at Beach Avenue and Burnaby Street within three minutes of receiving the 911 call.

David Meadows, 67, has been charged with one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
