She will be missed.

Payne died Wednesday evening, CNN reports, with several witnesses saying he fell from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. Authorities are still investigating the nature of Payne’s death.

Such sad news. I remember having a crush on her back in 1972 when she was a featured cast member in the Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, then seeing her in a rerun episode of the original Star Trek series and crushing on her all over again. Great comedic actress, but she also handled drama well (such as in Close Encounters of the Third Kind).

Oh wow, that’s a big one. Kentucky Fried movie and Airplane! were works of comedic genius at their time, and incredibly influential. Not necessarily in a good way – most movies that try to spoof the way those did in later years are really, really terrible. But that doesn’t change how good those originals were.

British guitarist John Sykes, best known for his work with rock bands Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake, has died aged 65 “after a hard fought battle with cancer,” according to a statement on his website.
“He will be remembered by many as a man with exceptional musical talent but for those who didn’t know him personally, he was a thoughtful, kind, and charismatic man whose presence lit up the room,” the statement said.

I did like Sleepy Hollow, even if most of his stuff was off the mark for me.
In August of 2024, Orci was accused in a lawsuit of beating and sexually assaulting his wife, “Hail, Caesar!” actor Adele Heather Taylor. In the suit, she alleged that Orci was a bipolar alcoholic who would fly into fits of violence against her.

‘Buffy’ and ‘Gossip Girl’ actress Michelle Trachtenberg dead at 39
Ah fuck, that’s rough. In my mind, she’s still like 16.
The sources told ABC News the actress recently underwent a liver transplant and may have been experiencing complications. Trachtenberg is believed to have died of natural causes and no foul play is suspected.
I remember watching that first episode of season 5 of Buffy when she was suddenly in the credits and all of the characters were acting as if she’d alsways been there and we had no idea what the fuck was going on. That was some seriously great TV.
