My first exposure to Treat Williams was in the movie version of HAIR, wherein he was a true force of nature, and I’ve enjoyed following his career since then. Of particular interest to members of this board, Treat apparently played TWO uncredited rolls in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (as an Echo Base trooper and as a Cloud City trooper). A sad loss of a talented actor; RIP.

He was an actor I always enjoyed watching perform.
RIP
My first exposure to Alan Arkin was a 1969 film called POPI, where his performance was so amazing that it still resonates with me today. And of course everyone remembers “Argo fuck yourself”. Fantastic actor; he will be missed.
Kevin Mitnick, the legendary hacker died last week at 59 following a battle with cancer. He was infamous for a lengthy spell on the run from the law in the 80s, and one of the terms of his eventual parole after he went to prison was that he wasn’t allowed use a computer unsupervised for years. He actually appeared on a tech show when that term was up and was gifted a new macbook by Woz. He spent his post-prison life working as a pentester and lecturing on computer security.
I read a great review today from former Melody Maker writer Simon Price in seeing Tony Bennett live in London roughly a decade back.
Bennett was 85 at the time and his expectations were reduced accordingly. He was blown away by how strong his voice was as the last of the ‘crooners’ still going, it was a 5 star review. He noted as well that Bennett marched with MLK back in the 60s, was on the right side of history knowing how much their music owed to black innovators.
RIP Tony.
Sinéad O’Connor has died.
Very sad news, I know she had a very difficult last couple of years.

Well thats shitty. I liked him in everything I’ve seen him in. Most will think of Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, but I think of Oz immediately.
I guess 83 isn’t bad, but it’s still not enough.
I always think of his great performance in Pi.
He was an asshole to his mates in The Band, but he was a gifted and talented asshole. I’ll miss him.
RIP to Jimmy Buffett
Steve Harwell, Smash Mouth Founding Singer, Dead at 56
Gary Wright, ‘Dream Weaver’ Singer, Dies at 80
Michael Gambon has died.
Sad news.
I know this is mostly Harry Potter for most people, but I first encountered him in Matthew Vaughn’s layer cake as a hard-ass gangster boss and that’s kind of what he kept being in my mind and it was always funny to me that he ended up playing Dumbledore.
Bobby Charlton has died.
Bobby Charlton has died.
I saw a great tribute to him following the ManCity-BrightonHoveAlbion match today. He was referred to as SIR Bobby Charlton, which is quite an accomplishment for a football player. Rest in Peace.
Matthew Perry, ‘Friends’ actor, dies of apparent drowning at 54
That’s a bit one, isn’t it.
He meant a lot to me, for a while, when Friends was huge for my personal group of friends.
And fuck off, Lorcan, it was a good show in its own way,
Hey, I diplomatically held my tongue!
Yeah but we could all hear you thinking it.

A bit off-topic, but we went from posting about Matthew Perry on November 1 to posting about Henry Kissinger on Nov 30. What happened in between? DID NOBODY SIGNIFICANT DIE IN NOVEMBER?!
EDIT: wait, I found one: Actress Frances Sternhagen died over the weekend

Ah shit. I had no idea he was suffering from a brain tumour. Gone far too soon.
It all sounds rather sudden, unfortunately.

Tom Wilkinson: The Full Monty actor dies at 75
And they entirely forgot he played Carmine Falcone in Bstman Begins.
Ah shit, man. I really loved Wilkinson. That man projected a warmth and kindness that was really special, I always felt. (And made it all the more interesting when he played a villain.)
