I would ask if people use the site but are not huge fans of a regular payment, please just drop a donation here: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/carrierforum

If you spend half an hour a couple of times a week here it’s probably more than Netflix gets of your time.

    Hi Gang.

So the fees for this site will come up in August. Last year because of various personal issues and a last minute call I thought would be unfair to cut everyone off I paid around $150 out of my pocket to keep it going for another year. I don’t really have that luxury going forward.

I understand why as I went AWOL with issues on the display but a lot of people cancelled their Patreon so it’s down to $15 and to be honest half of that is people who have not posted for years but forgotten to cancel. So we have a decision as group.

    1. Those remaining, some just had cards expire rather than cancel,  sign up to the Patreon or make a Paypal deposit to cover the cost.

    2. It ends and we look to free options like Discord to continue a chat.

    Tell me what you think.

It might just be my perception but it feels like engagement is dwindling quite a bit these days and there are fewer and fewer of us posting regularly. Given that, I’m not sure it makes sense to keep forking out money to keep it going if free alternatives are available that will allow people to keep in touch.

Hopefully that’s not too negative but I think it’s realistic at this point.

If things do go that way then a huge thanks to you Gar for taking this on, setting it up and keeping it running over the years, especially if it’s involved you paying out of your own pocket.

It seems to be the case Dave. Unless others disagree and want to contribute we’d probably be best to move to a free option when the domain expires and then I’d cancel the Patreon. The other thing is my dev guy who did the more techy side of the setup has left my employ now so if any major bug arrived I’m not too sure it could be repaired, using a 3rd party would keep the tech updated.

I set up a bare bones template on Discord that matches the forums here.  Take a look and we can try to fill it out between us if we think it works.

I had set up a Discord way back when Millarworld first shut down and before The Carrier came along, I think most, if not all of us are on there

I’m happy to use that if it’s more setup, what I did only took 5 minutes. Can you share the link?

This site is paid up until August of course so there’s no urgency but just planning ahead.

Cheers Lorcan, yes that one’s a lot more fleshed out. We can use that after August and I’ll delete the one I did earlier.

I never did write up my House/Powers of X theory and I can’t for the life of me remember it now
