It’s not even the belt for me… but it’s the weird super hard plastic boobs but with a flexible cloth abs part? wtf is that? Plus the cowl shape is weird as fuck too… I dunno, it just doesn’t work for me at all.

    Sooooooooooooooooo… Peacemaker

Yeah it was okay, it’s not bad, obviously, but it’s not as good as some people are saying… I think the best way to describe it is that I enjoyed it despite James Gunn.

Kudos to John Cena’s gigantic shoulders who very much carried this show… he was by far the stand-out, and honestly pretty revelatory to see him act so well, since I’ve only seen him in a few bad movies where he was bad too… even SQ2 didn’t do much for me in terms of John Cena, but here he really had a chance to shine and he took it. Vigilante was also okay, but rather under-explored, tbh.

Other than that? Ehh… I dunno, the plot was kinda lame, but I guess that wasn’t really the focus of the show so whatever. The cameo at the end was both fun, but also incredibly weird and cheap looking… maybe they should’ve just had the 2 of them instead of 4, because those other two looked fake, and inserted and it was just weird. The 2 who were there would’ve been enough, tbh…

oh also, so wait is that still canon or not? Jesus fuck DC get your shit together already… u_u

Just booked my ticket for The Batman on Wednesday. I’m not that hyped on it, not like I was on say Spider-Man or Dune. The trailers look kinda cool and all, and I do expect Pattinson to do well with the role. But I’m not sure what to expect. That said, I am looking forward to it.

Was Avengers: Endgame also met with criticism of its runtime pre-release? I don’t mind a three hour movie at all, aren’t we used to this by now?

  • #86504

Was Avengers: Endgame also met with criticism of its runtime pre-release? I don’t mind a three hour movie at all, aren’t we used to this by now?

Not only that, but DC fans were only recently clamouring for a four-hour Snyder cut.

I get that three hours is fairly long for a movie that you have to sit and watch at the cinema in one go with no breaks (as opposed to a home release like the Snyder Justice League), but I don’t think it’s completely unreasonable, and the much-loved Nolan Batman films weren’t far off that runtime.

Ultimately I don’t think it’s going to matter that much one way or another if the film is good. I can think of some great three-hour films that I saw at the cinema, along with some shit 90-minute ones.

Let’s just hope The Batman is a good movie – if it isn’t, then we’ll feel every minute of those three hours.

I think Endgame was a bit different in that it was essentially wrapping up a ten-year long story. It was also basically “Part 2” of Infinity War. I would say it was an outlier.

The Batman is restarting a franchise. It may be perceived a bit differently. If it is a good movie, the runtime won’t matter.

  • #86508

It’s still shorter than Lawrence of Arabia.

I also plan to see The Batman at some point during the week, unless the reviews are really horribly bad.

  • #86510

Yep. I don’t think any of them need to exceed two hours but at least with Endgame and Dark Knight Rises they were wrapping up something already established as being A Big Deal. The Batman starting out at three hours means it has already been decreed as something epic, hot on the heels of recent movies involving Batman that tried to be epics and fell arse over head.

  • #86511

Maybe this will be different and will be good, who knows. I’m not ready to dismiss it entirely on the basis of its runtime alone.

This film was announced in 2017. If it came out and it was only 90 minutes I’d be pretty pissed. Unless it absolutely tanks with critics and at the box office, we’re pretty much guaranteed a trilogy. So I’m fine giving over 3 hours considering we’ll probably be waiting another couple years for the sequel.

1 user thanked author for this post.
  • #86536

Not only that, but DC fans were only recently clamouring for a four-hour Snyder cut.

To be fair though, the Snydercut came with a 10 or 20 minute break in the middle for theaters, fully scored by Junkie XL. But WB only gave Snyder like 10 showings or so. Also, the movie was surprisingly well paced for a 4 hour deal… he even put all the post credit shit before the credits.

But yeah, I don’t think 3 hours is such a big deal, as long as the movie is well paced… just take a piss during the commercials and don’t drink a massive drink during it… not too hard

Hmmm…ADd this to the Storytelling thread
a New angle will be something like how would you approach
a well known character like Supes or Batman.

Batman I would emphasize his coping with childhood trauma
Maybe with Superman, he is an orphan and is adopted by
    another planet yada yada…

    Is it really wrong, though?

Yes, it is… that guy is just parroting a particular video made by some shitty youtuber by the name of Maggie Fish (or something) who’s got a massive hate boner for Snyder, she’s part of the same small enclave of supposedly “liberal” youtubers that convinced themselves that Snyder is the devil or some shit because he made 300 and he wanted to film and adaptation of the Fountainhead. Those idiots are every bit as cancerous as their counterparts on the other side of the spectrum.

Anyways, whether you like Snyder movies or not, it’s very hard to debate that he actually “understands” comicbooks very well, and I’m not talking about a specific character, but overall… No one, and I mean NO ONE else comes even close to capturing the visceral visual feel of comicbooks on screen like Snyder does.

People loooooooove saying “oh this person doesn’t understand x or y character”, but let’s be real, how fuckin hard is it to understand Superman? It’s Superman, not quantum physics for fuck’s sake. He understands the characters very well, he just has his own take on them, much like Miller, Morrison, Buisek and countless others before him.

Well the rumour is Batfleck is dying or something at the end of the Flash movie… or at least that was the rumour, because now the movie’s been pushed back YET AGAIN, so who the fuck knows what’s going on.

Anyways, I assume it mostly refers to letting Snyder finish the JL trilogy, and bringing back Cavill for more Supes… oh and doing the Batfleck movie/TV show/whatever else…

All of which I’m a 100% for… shit, I don’t really care if Snyder is involved, I just want more Cavill, more Batfleck and for the JL movies to follow up on the snydercut threads (meaning I want Darkseid).

Oh also, with the impending merger… AGAIN… I guess we’re gonna have to wait and see what happens… AGAIN. Jesus, this past decade’s been a complete shitshow over at WB, let’s hope it settles down soon… =/
