I want to make it clear that I hated Elon before it was cool to do so…
However…
oh yes, here we go!
John Malkovich’s Fantastic Four: The First Steps character might be The Red Ghost, a Russian cosmonaut who hangs out with three super-powered apes – and I couldn’t be more excited – GamesRadar/Newsarama
…Created all the way back in 1963’s Fantastic Four #13 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Kragoff is actually one of four cosmonauts embroiled in the Space Race of the ’60s who gained super powers after exposure to Cosmic Rays, just like their American counterparts Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm.
The twist is, the other three cosmonauts who gained powers alongside Kragoff are actually great apes, collectively known as the Super-Apes. Yes, that’s right – the original comic book concept of an anti-FF was a weird old ghost man and his three monkey pals…
I have memories of those folks being in Fantastic four cartoons in the 70s – but that might just be in my brain
wait, isn’t Nathaniel Richards Kang?
so confusing!
is this the teaser for the teaser?
I’ll be picking up book 2 and then I guess I need to face up and read the Invisibles (or Doom Patrol).
(Can I avoid the massive tomes and get Deluxe editions for those?)Jesus, you’ve never read either?!!
I’d go chronologically and start with DP, you can see him evolve as a writer as time goes by.
I think for some reason, he really annoyed my younger self, maybe he seemed over hyped or that Arkham Asylum was very pretty but not that good. For some reason I picked up Seven Solders, after being disappointed with We3 and Marvel Boy and really enjoyed it and have been meaning to give his older works another go.
Its been interesting reading Moores Swamp thing at the same time as Animal Man. Big influence there perhaps?
It looks like amazon has a kindle masterworks sale on – 5 quid/dollars a pop.
I’ve no idea if there’s anything I really want, I did wonder about chris Claremont’s side hustles in Spiderwoman or something like that.
Suggestions, and please don’t say Dazzler?
I’ve completed book one of Grant Morrison’s Animal Man, and its a fascinating book. At the time of publishing it must have been a complete shock, taking some old characters no one loved and treating them like they existed in something like the real world, whilst bringing awareness of being a fictional world just below the surface.
With a feel of 2000AD for grown ups, it probably would have been more suited to Crisis, rather than what Crisis got, with themes of vegetarian and post-colonialism.
I’ll be picking up book 2 and then I guess I need to face up and read the Invisibles (or Doom Patrol).
(Can I avoid the massive tomes and get Deluxe editions for those?)
want a HC? what about this classic?
SPIDER-MAN – FEARFUL SYMMETRY: KRAVEN'S LAST HUNT. VFN- CONDITION.
Monstress Book 3: Deluxe Hardcover – August 5th 2025
Got a great pre-order price.
Either a Black Friday week special, or a mistake.
I had a good look but couldn’t see a great price – where were you looking?
Bad Sisters series one was ace. Word on the street is that series 2 is nae so good.
I loved Shrinking, and obviously Slow Horses is a must watch. So is Ted Lasso.
I loved Lessons in Chemistry, Spirited but I think those are more personal.
The Afterparty was light and fun.
I need to see if Dick Turpin and Time Bandits were any good, but I have a feeling they were not
Severance I keep meaning to commit to.
Much more excited about thunderbolts and their fake Caps than the real one right now.
I completed Six Fingers and The One Hand last night and, it didn’t quite work. I could see what they wanted to do, and the point they wanted to make but I am a meme that is shrugging. It started well, got the right sort of mood and then it was all daddy issues and shouting. Too much Lost, not enough Blade Runner
I started digging in to the BBC iPLayer, frustrasted about the content shown, since the BBC has the most amazing archives of tele-plays, drama and comedy.
Digging in under the surface there are multiple Denis Potter works, Alan Bleasdale’s The Blackstuff and Boys from the Blackstuff, Tutti Fruiti, Alan Bennet’s Talking Heads – there might be more, though I’, disappointed there’s no obscure 80s alt-com work, maybe they aren’t that funny?

I picked up the first trade last year (or ’22 – what even is time any more) when Zavvi had a quick flurry of remaindered trades and I really enjoyed it. Not been able to get the remaining ones yet. Hopefully people jumping on the omnibus will sell them off and lower the going rate.
Strikforce Morituri omnibus
hmm tricky one. I have the three trades that where really hard to track down.
I think I might wait and bet on a deep discount after it goes on sale.
(it was always interesting, but I don’t know if it was good)
I picked up the first trade of Local Man, and enjoyed it enough to line up book 2 ready for when I’m done with book 1.
I guess I should give Revival another go?
Whilst I’m here, any word on Sandman Mystery Theatre huge collection Vol 2?
Rumour sites (well, a UK rumour site) has it that there is a Robinson Harris Starman comic/OHC in the works.
I’m 50% excited and 50% leave yr legacy alone Robinson, as I think everything he has done in the last…10+ years save Scarlet Witch has been badly written.
Do you folk use best book price? It doesn’t have speedyhen or BooksETC but it does have many others, though its kinda noisy and full of Amazon and ebay things.

And what’s with the flickering images throughout the series
I’m sure when Sue appeared as the tea lady she was all blury swirly for a few seconds,
I can’t say I’ve noticed either of these. I just checked that bit of the Devil’s Chord on iPlayer and she seemed normal enough.
It was just my version! Spooky
There is a War of the Realms omnibus, I sold mine when I bought the two Thor omnis and didn’t get that much for, so maybe see if you can snag a cheapo copy?
And what’s with the flickering images throughout the series? I assume that’s building up to something. I do hope we’re not the only ones to have noticed those, and it’s not just my TV being possessed!
Yes yes. I’m sure when Sue appeared as the tea lady she was all blury swirly for a few seconds, but I couldn’t find it on YouTube etc, so put it down to transmission or receiver issues.
But maybe…
I photographed a few pages of Maxwell the Magic Cat for another forum, and I thought one or two of the folk here might be interested…
If these are too big and I need to put them elsewhere and link them in, let me know
(if you want a few more pages, also let me know)
I actually snagged a reasonably priced copy of the OHC off eBay a few weeks back, though I’m still waiting for it to turn up.
Nice work. I need to up my ebay game.
Who is That Fuckin Guy?
Should I aughta know?
I’m gonna maybe spoil my secret shopping place but https://onlineshop.oxfam.org.uk/fatale-deluxe-edition-volume-1/product/HD_301970108
I get first dibs on Kill or get Killed HCs right?
That’s ridiculous.
The price or the concept?
As to X-Force, hopefully, eventually, there will be an OHC4 to finish the run. Ditto for Wolverine.
When I had met him at NYCC, Percy hoped that they’d eventually print both X-Force and Wolverine together in Omnibus format, intertwining the stories from one title to another. In his eyes they were one series. I don’t quite see it that way, but they definitely compliment each other, and for my money, Wolverine has never been better than it has been under his pen.
Also, if you’ve never seen or heard him speak, Percy embodies Logan almost literally. It’s uncanny.
Percy wrote X lives/death of Wolverine right?
Never forgetting or forgiving that 🦈 jump moment.
Are you reading The Six Fingers too? They work together nicely.
I wasn’t till you told me about it!
That’s good stuff. Thanks.
It’s a clever approach between these two books. Must have required quite a bit of coordination between the two writers.
Naaa, they are both C.B. Cebulski
