.With the Snake Eyes movie in theaters and reports of a new G.I. Joe animated series in the works, I got it in my head to start a discussion thread on all things G.I. Joe. The toys, the animated series, the comics, the movies, even the few video games from the 80s.

When I collected G.I Joe figures, there were only four: the Soldier, the Sailor, the Pilot, and the Marine. They were 12 inches tall, and the only way to tell them apart was the type of uniform they wore.

Well, not quite; we DID have electric lights in our house…. 
I remember those times too Jerry. Except GI Joe was rebranded Action Man in the UK it was the same 12 inch figure with just the clothes changing. Shortly before they moved to the smaller figures they had great innovations like giving him blue underpants instead of the smooth ‘down below) and eagle eyes where you could move the eyes around with a little button at the back of his head.
As I mentioned elsewhere, I was at a toy fair yesterday and there was a stall with a lot of vintage Action Man stuff. For some reason, I found it greatly amusing to see the tops of boxes branded Action Man HORSE. I didn’t look, but I assume it was a horse for Action Man to ride, rather than Action Man in some equine cosplay.

This Sunday there is a GI Joe/Transformers convention called Roll Out Roll Call happening in Fordingbridge, Hampshire. Should be fun.
