Felt like Gerart talked more in this trailer than in the whole of the first season.
Ha, I said the same thing to my wife when we watched it. An honest trailer should be just him grunting at people repeatedly (followed by a topless woman running away from a monster while a minstrel sings about it all).

You mean if the barrel is being scraped low enough for Silverhawks, Visionaries might be on the next scoop?
Silverhawks was a Rankin-Bass joint, like Thundercats, so is owned by Warner Bros now. Or was. I think Super 7 bought the whole thing off them to do their new retro figure line, which, well… is one way to use up some spare cash.

No, I know who Slipstream is, but there’s no way he’s a top tier, fan-favourite character to be mentioned in the same breath as Duke, Scarlett and the Baroness. It’d be like saying “iconic Avengers such as Captain America, Iron Man, Silverclaw and Thor”.

yea, I know, it was a little mean but having a smidgen of hope is better than no hope at all

That makes me think that it would nice to find out who everyone’s favorite one was. One of mine was Lady Jaye. I always thought she was better than Scarlett and being played by Adrianna Palicki in the movie didn’t hurt.

Bob Odenkirk collapsed on the set of Better Call Saul yesterday, while he was filming the final season of the tv series, and has been hospitalized. It’s been about ten hours since this was divulged, and there have been no updates on his condition.
Really hope he’s okay, but the lack of any kind of information is troubling.
Hoping he is okay.
Jesus, yeah, I hope he’s fine! He always seems like a really awesome guy.
Sounds like he suffered a heart attack but is in stable condition now.

Fox teases new drama ‘Our Kind Of People’ starring Yaya DaCosta, with first trailer
South Park Gets 4-Season Renewal at Comedy Central — Plus, 14 (!) Movies Ordered at Paramount+
South Park is gunning for The Simpsons‘ record with yet another multi-season renewal.
Comedy Central, which previously renewed the long-running animated comedy through Season 26, has picked up an additional four seasons, guaranteeing at least 30 (!) seasons. Season 25 is expected to premiere on the cable network sometime in 2022, with additional seasons unspooling through 2027.
But wait, there’s more! As part of a new overall deal with ViacomCBS, series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker will produce 14 (!) South Park movies exclusively for Paramount+. The first two films will bow on the streaming service later this year.
“Matt and Trey are world-class creatives who brilliantly use their outrageous humor to skewer the absurdities of our culture and we are excited to expand and deepen our long relationship with them to help fuel Paramount+ and Comedy Central,” Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of MTV Entertainment and CCO of Adult Animation at Paramount+, said in a statement. “Franchising marquee content like South Park and developing new IP with tremendous talent like Matt and Trey, is at the heart of our strategy to continue growing Paramount+.”
Added Parker and Stone, “Comedy Central has been our home for 25 years and we’re really happy that they’ve made a commitment to us for the next 75 years. When we came to ViacomCBS with a different way to produce the show during the pandemic, [they] were immediately supportive and enabled us to try something new that turned out to be really well received. We can’t wait to get back to doing traditional South Park episodes but now we can also try out new formats. It’s great to have partners who will always take a chance with us.”
South Park‘s most recent run of episodes aired in 2019. That was followed by two hourlong specials — South Park: The Pandemic Special and South ParQ Vaccination Special — which aired in September and March, respectively.
Looking forward to that. Y is my favourite BKV book, so i’ve got high hopes.
Wow, that was a really terribly made trailer. But the good thing is if you can ignore the choppiness of the trailer and the lack of a sense of either mood or direction, and the bad, hammy inserted writing… the individual elements actually look very good. The casting looks great, the moments from the show look well-produced, and the fights have energy.
So I’m thinking this is probably a good show? If this is on any of my streaming services or available on amazon to buy when it comes out, I’m thinking I’ll be there from the start.
It’s Hulu in the US which is Disney aligned now. Probably in Europe it’ll be on Star I think.
Doom Patrol is coming back and it looks brilliant.

More than 27 months (!) after The Orville aired its Season 2 finale, filming has wrapped on its third season, which as announced long, long ago will premiere on Hulu.
“And that is a wrap on season 3 of The Orville!” series creator and on-screen captain Seth MacFarlane announced Wednesday on Twitter.
MacFarlane also squelched any cynical speculation that Season 3 would be the sci-fi adventures series’ swan song, by adding: “Thank you to our incredible cast and crew for all their tireless and brilliant work, and I sincerely hope this is not the last time we all go to space.”

so searching for any news on the re-reboot of BSG, I found this link about the previous series…
Dr. Kevin Grazier is a planetary dynamicist who served as science advisor on Battlestar Galactica, as well as the series Eureka and films Gravity and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He appeared in the Hollyweird Science virtual panel for this year’s Comic-Con@Home event, and he shared a particular scene from a particularly game-changing episode that got his seal of approval despite not making any scientific sense. Grazier explained:
When I first got the script for ‘Exodus Part 2,’ the fourth episode of Battlestar Galactica’s third season. There’s that part where Galactica does ‘The Adama Maneuver,’ or the belly flop, when it literally plummets through the atmosphere of New Caprica.
And what I said, in my notes, was ‘There’s nothing about this works. Galactica would break up. I don’t care what it’s made of. Since we’re going to real science, no really weird materials, it would break up. It would break up. When the Vipers tried to launch, you would slam into that plasma sheath and they would just get shattered.’ All the details – it would tumble. There’s no amount of thrusters that’s gonna keep it from tumbling. I went into all the details.
And then I finished with ‘Owing to the extreme coolness of this, go for it, because I want to see that.’
And do you know how many people complaints we got online? Zero. One of the worst science moments we had, but it was cool. And so people gave it a pass because it was cool.
More in link, including a video of the scene in question…
That looks like it could be quite fun. It just seems odd to have this and the Kevin Smith show on at the same time.
Everyone who hated MOTU: Revelation will probably hate this one, too.
After Revelation, yeah… that’s like a double slap in the face lol…
But to be fair, this is a new interpretation, like everything is pretty different and it doesn’t look like they’re sidelining He-Man this time… they’re being a 100% upfront about what this is… so I don’t think the reaction will be as strong. Hell, if anything, they’ll probably praise it just to spite Smith’s MOTU =P

Well, Revelation was aimed at people who haven’t matured much since 1988, but this new one is clearly aimed at kids. I was referring to the “will probably hate this too” part of Jason’s post
Ah, alright. Yeah, and I can honestly see this one finding an audience much more easily. It’s a bit like the Troll Slayer things in tone.
To me it looks like Overwatch or something like that… so yeah, clearly intended for kids.
MOTU was heavily marketed as a show “for the OG fans” and that would mean yes, adults, since it’s supposed to be a continuation of that OG series. I can understand if people felt disappointed and lied to.
This new one looks like any of the bland and forgettable “in-name-only” reboots they’ve done the past decade, so whatever.
Mike Richards out as Jeopardy Host Amid Cascade of Scandals
Oops, thought I was in the Sports thread…
Anyways, is there anyone without skeletons that the hoards will leave alone?
My mom just texted me saying Crosby, Weinstein, and any other criminal activity is one thing, but things have gone a little too far.
Me, well, I’m excited that Geordie LaForge gets another chance.
Pretty much the only choice now.

I’ve not paid much attention to this but it does seem to be spurred by the fact he decided to give himself the presenting job, despite pretty much no-one wanting him to have it (I’m sure he spent a lot of time working out who the best person for the job would be and was as surprised as anyone when he discovered it was him 😒).
And if you are going to do something as blatantly as self-aggrandising as that, well, you better have covered your back, frankly.
Well, Revelation was aimed at people who haven’t matured much since 1988, but this new one is clearly aimed at kids.
Do kids even care about He-Man?
Seems like most of these 80s toy line revivals — He-Man, Transformers, GI Joe, whatever — are aimed at nostalgic adults in mid-life crisis mode. Most kids I know seem more interested in stuff like Minecraft, Pokemon, and Fortnite than they do about hoarding action figures. Give a kid money for his birthday, and he’s more likely to spend it on in-game purchases than toys.
Even the Star Wars toys… with a 3 3/4″ scale X-Wing retailing for $100 and a same-scale Millennium Falcon for $400, those aren’t being sold to children.
The only big n0n-video game IPs kids seem interested in these days are Marvel and Disney; at Halloween I think half of the costumes I see on trick-or-treaters are Captain America, Iron Man, or Black Panther if they’re boys, or a Disney Princess if they’re girls.

The design of the characters in this new cartoon are very much in the Fortnite mould, so they’re at least trying to get a new audience

I tried to watch as many of the guest hosts as possible and I thought his performance was very close to Alex’s so I was not disappointed at his selection. What surprised me was the support for Geordi. Did you watch his episodes? The runner up was Amy from BBTheory so I think she gets the main gig. I saw one tweet about the whole mess asking if we really need Jeopardy to continue? I hope his reasoning was it was Alex’s thing maybe it is best to let it die with him. Despite an outcry from Fantasy Football and Packer fans I would not have been averse to see Rodgers get the job.

While I do not watch Jeopardy! with any kind of regularity, I don’t think it should end. I don’t think Alex Trebek would have wanted that.
It used to be that you had a generation or so of people (pretty much white men) whose primary career was hosting game shows. When game shows fell out of favor, there was no new generation who was groomed to take up those mantles. Pat Sajak is probably the last of the old generation. In the last few years where game shows are making a comeback, they are pretty much being hosted by actors and comedians who do the game show thing as a lucrative side job. For the most part, they do an okay job though they seem to want to be the center of attention. What the classic hosts understood was that they weren’t the stars, the contestants and guests were. While a host may have had a moment, they did not overshadow the players. That is what is missing from some of the contemporary game shows I’ve watched.
Mike Richards may not have been the right person, but was the right direction. Find an “unknown”, or least not. Find someone who is personable, relatively young, and competent. You want someone who won’t overshadow the players or the game itself. The job is not inherently difficult. You want someone who will be a cog in a well-oiled machine.
I hope his reasoning was it was Alex’s thing maybe it is best to let it die with him.
Ironic, in that when Alex Trebek began hosting the All-New Jeopardy! in 1984, a lot of viewers resented him for presuming to take over the job that Art Fleming had held for 11 years as the original Jeopardy! host from 1964 to 1975.
Looks like Mayim Biyalik is taking over as full host of Jeopardy now… wait until people realise that despite being a Neuroscientist she shills some dodgy alternative medicines and is an anti-vaxxer
She’s not though. At least not entirely. She’s said she has gotten both the covid and flu shots this year and that her kids are, at least to some degree, vaccinated for example. I don’t know what vaccines she had her kids skip back in the day, but it wasn’t all of them.
I’m not saying her stance is the right stance, just clarifying that she’s not technically an anti-vaxxer. She just maybe has some questionable takes on the subject.
I think Bialik is going to guest-host for three weeks until they settle on a permanent host. I read that they’re looking towards Ken Jenkins now.
She will be hosting certain prime-time Jeopardy events and specials, though. (Tournament of Champions, and stuff like that. Maybe even prime-time “Celebrity Jeopardy.”)

That’s a distinction without a definition. By the exact same logic you can say she technically is an anti-vaxxer, and if the last two years have taught us anything, it should be that any vaccine hesitancy is really dangerous.
I never realised people paid so much attention to Jeopardy.
I love Jeopardy, or at least I love the idea of Jeopardy.
I bump into it occasionally throughout the year (not so much on the summer), sometimes its multiple times a week and then sometimes it’s weeks without.
Ken Jennings would’ve been a fine choice 10 years ago, but now I think they should stay the hell away from any privileged white male.
I thought that before this all started. It was just all kinds of wrong when Richards gave himself the job.
Dumbass had to know he needed to be above the slightest scrutiny.
I also have a problem with Ken Jennings face.
It’s Team LeVar for me.
No, I didn’t see any of his episodes, but damn do I like that in theory.
I just do.
But I would throw him to the curb the second Michael Dorn’s hat was thrown in the ring.
I never realised people paid so much attention to Jeopardy.
Despite it being a game show, it is held in high regard due to the level of difficulty. Most quiz-based game shows are not that hard and usually have some additional gimmick. Jeopardy is a purely mental game where you have to know your shit. It’s a show that when you play along at home and get correct responses, you feel smarter.

I don’t disagree. But I’m just pointing out that she has since come out and said she’s not anti- vaccine and while she delayed vaccinations for her kids they are currently vaccinated. She’s certainly said some stupid stuff worth calling out. And not just about vaccines. But if we’re going to focus on her vaccine hesitancy from the past I think it’s fair to also focus on her more recent words. If she’s someone that dumb parents used to help reenforce their anti-vaxxer position then it’s important to point out that she and her kids have been vaccinated and she does think vaccines are valuable and important. Just calling her anti-vax isn’t really true and doesn’t help the overall conversation about vaccine hesitancy. I’d think that seeing a person with previous vaccine hesitant history embrace the Covid vaccines is important. But maybe that’s just me. That said, since she was foolish enough to make her family’s personal crap public without prompt, this is all on her.
Still, as far as Jeopardy goes, it’s impressive that they managed to go with two hosts with controversial backgrounds instead of just choosing Ken Jennings and/or LeVar Burton. They’ve made a needless mess out of it all.
it’s impressive that they managed to go with two hosts with controversial backgrounds instead of just choosing Ken Jennings and/or LeVar Burton.
I guarantee that if Jennings or LeVar were picked, somebody somewhere would reveal an internet tweet or Facebook post or high-school-yearbook-comment that is considered inappropriate in some way. We all have skeletons; but that doesn’t make us horrible demons, just imperfect humans.
Bialik had early misgivings about vaxxing her kids, but has rectified that. In a society that elected (and almost re-elected) Donald Trump and put Bret Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, it’s more than a little hypocritical and over-the-top to lambaste Mayim as a potential Jeopardy host, don’t you think?

It’s not just the anti-vaxx stuff, there’s also selling bullshit pills on her rep as a neuroscientist. Which isn’t a good look for someone who wants to host a show based on being smart. And in Biyalik’s case, these aren’t skeletons in her closet, they’re things she’s discussed on her podcast and made TV ads for.
It’s hard to think of celebrities who don’t have something to get lambasted over these days. Maybe the Muppets?

Then I saw his episodes. And they were… not good. Cringeworthy. Probably the worst guest host of the bunch.
The best ones were Mike Richards, Buzzy Cohen, Mayim Bialik, and Joe Buck (which surprised me).

Joking aside, I think it’s appalling that society allows “actor” to be a position of power and responsibility.
Joe Buck (which surprised me).
Aaron Rodgers was the big surprise for me. He had the right personality, the right vocal tone, and actually seemed at ease in the job (unlike Ken Jennings, who looked like he was ready to run offstage at any moment).

I read an interview with him where he basically said he knew he didn’t do a great job. He mentioned asking his wife how he did after his first set of tapings and she said something along the lines of “it was okay but you weren’t being yourself”. He did seem uncomfortable but I also feel like he could grow into the role quickly. That said, I think there are likely plenty of solid choices out there to choose from.
It used to be that you had a generation or so of people (pretty much white men) whose primary career was hosting game shows. When game shows fell out of favor, there was no new generation who was groomed to take up those mantles.
What I always find interesting about it is it isn’t a game show, it’s a quiz show.
The differentiator there is game shows, like The Price is Right or Wheel of Fortune or Deal or No Deal have a high level of luck involved. Deal or No Deal is actually comical in the way it suggests there’s strategy in what is really just blind guesses and luck.
Quiz shows, based on knowledge, are rare in the US but very popular in the UK where they don’t necessarily last as long as Jeopardy has but get recycled constantly in various formats with several running at a time. The Chase, Pointless, Mastermind, Eggheads etc.
I know there have been others, The Weakest Link and Who Wants to be a Millionaire imported from the UK and died out, but it is an interesting division to look at. You can play along with any quiz show, with a spinning wheel you can’t. Is Jeopardy the only quiz show alive in the US and therefore why it retains its appeal for nerds watching along that want to show they can answer the questions?

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Wrap-Up Christmas Movie Officially a Go at Roku
Santa is bringing Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist fans an extra special gift this holiday season: Roku has officially ordered a feature-length wrap-up movie for the cancelled NBC musical dramedy, TVLine has learned.
Titled Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas, the project begins production this month in Vancouver, with Jane Levy (aka Zoey), Skylar Astin (Max), Alex Newell (Mo), John Clarence Stewart (Simon), Andrew Leeds (David), Alice Lee (Emily), Michael Thomas Grant (Leif), Kapil Talwalkar (Tobin), Mary Steenburgen (Maggie), Peter Gallagher (Mitch) and Bernadette Peters (Deb) all reprising their roles.
The film will debut for free exclusively on The Roku Channel in the U.S. this holiday season, as well as on Roku in Canada and the UK. Additionally, all 25 episodes of the series will be available to stream for free on the service in the U.S. later this fall. As we previously reported, we hear if the pic performs well, Roku could potentially order additional episodes.
“I am so extremely grateful to The Roku Channel for helping us get Zoey to sing again,” creator Austin Winsberg, who will write the movie, said in a statement. “I can’t think of a more appropriate time to hear someone’s heart song than the holidays. And Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas will be an opportunity to provide the fans and new viewers alike a chance to all tap their toes and get in the holiday mood. This show has always been about empathy, compassion and the triumph of the human spirit. The Roku Channel has sure lifted mine and I hope that our film can have the same effect on viewers everywhere.”
“Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is the kind of show that doesn’t just entertain people, it speaks to them,” Colin Davis, Roku’s Head of Original Scripted Programming, added. “The show has a healing power about it, which is brought to life by the incredibly talented cast through music and dance. That connection with the audience is what makes bringing a holiday-themed film like Zoey to life with the original cast so special. We are absolutely thrilled to call Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas our first Roku Original film and make it available to both longtime fans and new ones on The Roku Channel this holiday.”
As for what Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas has in store for its characters, Roku’s description only offers that “the film picks up where Season 2 left off, continuing Zoey’s journey as she navigates work, family, love, and everything in between.” (If you need a refresher on how Season 2 wrapped up, check out our finale post mortem Q&A with Winsberg.)
I was just looking around the L&O universe and noticed the spin-off “For The Defense” is not going ahead.
Looks like Dick Wolf will only have 8 hours of TV in a week (3 FBI’s on Tuesday, 3 Chicago’s on Wed, and 2 L&O on Thurs.).
Poor guy.
‘Law & Order: For The Defense’ Not Moving Forward; New ‘L&O’ Spinoff In Works At NBC – Deadline from July 15th
Law & Order: For the Defense, which had been slated for a fall 2021 launch with a straight-to-series order, has been scrapped by NBC. The legal drama, which was supposed to be part of an all-Law & Order Thursday lineup alongside Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime, will be replaced on the schedule by veteran The Blacklist, which will relocate from Fridays to the Thursday 8 PM berth for its ninth season.
Dick Wolf had partnered with Carol Mendelsohn on Law & Order: For the Defense, which received a straight-to-series order in early May. The project, which took an inside look at a criminal defense firm, had progressed to the casting stage, with offers made to name actors over the past two months.
I hear a decision ultimately was made to not proceed with the show, though NBC, Wolf and Universal Television — the studio behind the Law & Order franchise — are already developing a new series under the Law & Order banner. Details still are scarce, but the network and the producers are believed to be moving in another creative direction with an offshoot that is not a legal drama.
NBC similarly gave a straight-to-series order to and then shelved Law & Order: Hate Crimes several years ago. The prospective spinoff had remained in development on the back burner; it is not believed to be the new L&O series that is being fast-tracked right now.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, starring Emmy winner Mariska Hargitay, remains strong after 22 seasons, having broken the record for the longest-running live-action series in television history.
