Odd thought I had: if straight people get asked who they’d go gay for, do gay people ever get asked who they’d go straight for?

Odd thought I had: if straight people get asked who they’d go gay for, do gay people ever get asked who they’d go straight for?

I asked one of my gay friends that and he immediately started making puking noises. He’s heterophobic.

  • #52974

I feel that if you can answer that question at all, you must already be bi.

Happy to be proven wrong on this. But I think my logic (if not my understanding of gay/bi people) is flawless.

Yeah, I think this is more of a sliding scale than three boxes to be checked or unchecked.

I feel like you’d only need two boxes – one, both or neither checked. Unless the third is for sexuality beyond the gender or species-norms, and then you’d probably need like a bunch more boxes so as not to leave anyone out.

But pedantry and facetiousness aside, anyone who thinks they’re 100% straight or gay is deluding themselves. You might think you are, but the flow of blood to your genitals has other ideas.

    This begs the question:

If you had to have sex with another species, which one would you choose?

    I’d probably go Xenomorph.

Look, I may belong to a religion that most of you would call Homophobic, but I’m not ashamed to say I’ve gone through phases where I’ve thought about men.

  • #53075

a religion that most of you would call Homophobic

    That’s most religions though.

  • #53079

It’s a spectrum. There are some in my religion who believe that it’s a choice or a mental illness. I see that as a misinterpretation of  and overemphasis on certain texts, subconsciously influenced by the current dominant socially conservative religions (Traditional Protestants and Catholic). I see it as more Jewish and correct to say that being gay is not a bad thing, and it’s not a mental illness; it’s a spiritual issue, and we can’t force it on people, but an attitude shift needs to happen so LGBTs in our community can willingly  have spiritual counseling, but to force that view on outsiders is wrong and also futile.

  • #53080

Buddhism is a bit confused on the subject. There is a precept to avoid sexual misbehavior, but it is not specified wether this includes homosexuality. In Tibet homosexuality was frowned upon, but I think in Japan and China and India it was more liberal.

Hinduism is also very liberal originally however later more puritan attitudes arose. Also Arjuna the hero of the Mahabharata was transgender for a while.

    Change of pace

Seriously… I posted before about aimlessly clicking and surfing the TV, Internet, phone, etc. for hours. It can be a sign of something bigger, I really don’t know but mental health issues has come to the fore these days due to being shut ins from the pandemic as well as other factors.

I would like to post a thread on psychology in general, like the health thread we had before, but I am afraid that it might go off the rails too much.

    Thoughts? Opinions?

    @njerry
, I do like your style. You have good taste.

I have a few ladies in mind. But no Kardashians or Camila Cabello.

I switched to Gaga now because of the movie. I understand now why Gaga was so “outrageous” in the past and how she has healed and progressed. I wish her well and continued progress.

1 user thanked author for this post.
  • #53765

    Hardly…

I won’t use the Kardashians because they are already overexposed, they aren’t what they originally looked like, and their show and appearance is like “This is how hot we are… This is us in our mansion… This is us in our swimsuits vacationing in Hawaii… St. Barths… etc.” They have done some progressive things, but need to keep things more real and even relatable to the rest of us in a pandemic.

As for Camila Cabello… there have been racist tweets she posted on Twitter years ago. I feel she apologized only out of necessity. I need to know more about it later on but for now, I still have a lot to choose from.
