Al, I thought we talked about not posting images with stuff from new Marvel movies before they’re even out yet.

That was off the trailer…
But if that is the case now, then so be it.

The trailer from a film that’s not yet out. And ignore that thanks, I pressed the wrong button instead of quote and can’t undo it.

Ok… It’s all good.
Thing is… There are no set rules here posted like it was at MW.
It’s an odd stance to take, though. As Al says, that’s from the trailer. And the trailer is already released, even if the film isn’t yet. I don’t see the harm, personally.
Personally, I would like it if Al posted here more often…. and left the Sports thread and all the Star Trek threads free of all his memes.
You got it. 😊
I don’t have a horse in this race, but some people avoid trailers because they contain small spoilers.
I can see the arguments both ways to be honest. If something has been shown in an official trailer then it doesn’t seem that spoiler-y to me – but at the same time, if people are trying to avoid finding out details about an upcoming movie, including from trailers, then I can understand it being a bit annoying for stuff to pop up unexpectedly in an unassociated thread.
Maybe to stay on the safe side we could keep anything about an upcoming project to its dedicated thread. So (say) we discuss Thor Love & Thunder stuff in the Marvel movies thread but not in detail elsewhere.
How does that sound?

Then that should mean that I could post that in the MCU thread or so.
But then someone said to leave all the pictures here.
Shouldn’t pics and memes be posted in threads where they are the most appropriate in?
Confusing?

I think generally discussion threads are best when people are discussing things, but the odd funny image is probably fine. It just becomes a bit off-putting when there’s a deluge of samey memes and you have to pick through all of that to find the chat.
Maybe it would be a good rule of thumb to keep anything spoiler-y out of the general image thread (and put it in the dedicated thread), but put anything else here so that the dedicated discussion threads don’t get clogged up?
Dave’s solution seems the most logical to me. Let’s go with that. There has never been a rule that pics and memes can only be posted in this thread, quite the opposite in the MW iteration where we asked political memes go to the politics thread because they often started too many arguments (albeit that’s less of an issue now).
Let’s keep the conversation civil by the way, we can ask and agree as a group rather than bitch at people.
Some people like to keep complete darkness about this stuff. I know one guy who avoided every second of Star Wars trailers and went in the The Force Awakens completely blind.
To be honest that is pretty hard to achieve and exist online but also it isn’t an onerous request to keep trailer images to the specific threads so people can at least try their best to avoid them. I think we can work together here.
I understand you want to keep the peace and all, but if I do go too far with risque pics and get reprimanded for it, shouldn’t other pics about bl*wjobs, hard RAM drives and other sexual innuendo be as well?
There seems to be a taking sides with one’s own clique, enabling continuous trolling, and not about what is right and wrong all across the board.
We can work together provided we are all on the same page with established rules and so on.
But then someone said to leave all the pictures here. Shouldn’t pics and memes be posted in threads where they are the most appropriate in?
If you want to get very logical, I used the word personally which, i think, means everything i said after that was simply my opinion. It is up to Al whether to follow my suggestion or not and in no way am I saying it should be a rule here.

i agree. I am currently in a cranky state of mind so forgive me if a post of mine irritates someone. I am just trying to vent frustration not cause someone else frustration.
I do not want to go down this rabbit hole, it doesn’t end anywhere productive. Sexual innuendo is not the same as sexism, the latter is frowned upon, if you want help in defining the two I can assist.
There is no clique, I have met you Al and spent a nice night in the pub, I have never met Anders. You are better off ignoring each other as much as possible so I don’t have to ever delete posts (and I have deleted them evenly today, yours and his). Some people don’t get on very well in any scenario, it is beyond my powers to prevent that and have to pass the onus back.
Seriously, why isn’t this a thing already?
Doctor Who explored a similar concept in one of the Capaldi series, with Ashildr, the character played by Maisie Williams who is made immortal and exists until the end of time.
So Charles Stross has finally taken over American politics, eh?
So Charles Stross has finally taken over American politics, eh?
Remember when he binned the sequel to Halting State and Rule 34 because a plot point he’d put in that he thought was a ludicrous extension of US politics happened in real life and he couldn’t write his way out of it?
I actually didn’t know about that and just read up on it. Awesome!
Well, you know, not that there was illegal global surveillance by the NSA, but that he accurately predicted it leaking and everything.
You know, one thing about the way the world’s been going to hell in a handbasket is, there’s always a voice in the back of my mind whooping and cheering because my teenage cyberpunk fantasies are all coming true.
Map of all the waterways, lakes, etc in the Netherlands. (I am not sure the width of all the ditches is accurately scaled, that seems impossible unless you have a huge map. An area with lots of ditches like the agricultural fields probably just turn into light blue blotches on this map)
edit: Oh hey I just saw if you click “open ïmage in new tab” youget a larger and clearer image.
Why do screen-cappers always blot out the names of people who post stupid things on social media? They’ve posted it in a public forum, they obviously aren’t concerned about privacy
I think it’s mainly to avoid a pile-on. This person has obviously been a bit daft thinking the actress was shot rather than the pilot and it’s funny – but maybe not that funny if 10,000 are sharing your pic and name and some will track the account and take the piss.
After reading ‘So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed’ I would do the same and hide the identity because people are arseholes on social media that take things too far.

Oh I don’t know, we’ve probably all posted things publicly that we’d probably rather weren’t shared widely.
I stand by that message, I think it was entirely sensible given the facts then available.
The stupid people are the ones who didn’t change that opinion when more facts came to light.
Ah I was only joking with you really. Nobody appreciated back then the scale of what was to come next.
But there are definitely things I’ve said online, albeit publicly, that I’d feel sheepish about having broadcast to a wider audience.
Remember when I said the Lego Batman movie was sure to make a billion dollars?
