That’s really sad; he was a year younger than I am. Lightle was a sublime artist; I remember well the covers he drew for the CLASSIC X-MEN reprint series in the late 80s/early 90s.

You’ve got to love Private Eye. The mock retraction editorial piece they published after Diana’s death was great too.

I tried to find a copy online but it seems to have been lost to time. It was essentially a retraction on behalf of all newspapers saying that on 31 August 1997 they suddenly realised that Diana wasn’t a naive and shallow socialite with loose morals and was in fact a saintly figure etc. etc.
They weren’t popular at the time for doing it but they were one of the few publications that pointed out all the press and public hypocrisy of the time, as it was happening.
This was their front page that week.

Mira Furlan, the actress best known for her work on Lost and Babylon 5, has died at the age of 65. The news was announced on social media via Furlan’s Twitter page and a post from Babylon 5 director J. Michael Straczynski. The cause of death is unknown to the public, however in his post Straczynski wrote that the cast and crew of Babylon 5 had “known for some time now that Mira’s health was fading.” “Mira was a good and kind woman, a stunningly talented performer, and a friend to everyone in the cast and crew of ‘Babylon 5,’ and we are all devastated by the news,” continued Straczynski’s post. “The cast members with whom she was especially close since the show’s end will need room to process this moment, so please be gentle if they are unresponsive for a time. We have been down this road too often, and it only gets harder.”

TV and radio host/interiewer Larry King as died
Veteran TV host Larry King has died, aged 87.
An official statement posted to King’s Twitter account said he had passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
“With profound sadness, Ora Media announces the death of our co-founder, host and friend Larry King, who passed away this morning aged 87 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles,” the statement read.
“For 63 years and across the platforms of radio, television and digital media, Larry’s many thousands of interviews, awards and global acclaim stand as a testament to his unique and lasting talent as a broadcaster.”

Aw, shame. Honestly wish we could change that and make it so Kevin Spacey was dead instead.
First thing I wanted to do when I saw this was an obituary with a picture of Kevin Spacey. Too soon though.
He was a fantastic actor and I loved him in a lot of movies. He made everything better.

While it’s not remembered as one of his great movies and hasn’t garnered much mention in his obituaries, I remember loving him as the villain in Dragnet. Just a silly, goofy movie, but he brought a great performance to it.

Si Spencer, British comic book and TV writer, has passed away, according to reports of friends and colleagues. A current writer for 2000AD, he often worked with Deam Ormston. He worked on titles such as Crisis, Revolver, Judge Dredd Megazine and was an editor of Deadline.
For the US, and for DC Comics, he wrote Books of Magick: Life During Wartime, Vinyl Underground, Hellblazer: City of Demons, Bodies and Slash and Burn. He also wrote the graphic novel Klaxon.

Well, that balanced out my glee over Limbaugh’s death (good riddance, fucker!) pretty quickly. I really liked Spencer’s work on Life During Wartime and thought it was a shame there was only one Vinyl Underground trade. Very sad news. Far, far too soon.
