Oh how terrible. Incredible that he suffered in silence and never went to the press with his story. RIP
It makes interviews like this all the more resonant.
Oh how terrible. Incredible that he suffered in silence and never went to the press with his story. RIP
I look at it this way: He never let the cancer define him or his career. He let his talent and passion for acting speak for him.
I’m sure he had an emotional support system in place so he wasn’t truly alone.
I think it’s more inspirational and admirable to realize what he was going through while he was doing what he loved. He knew his time was limited so he did what he wanted while he could.
He was phenomenal.
He can finally rest.
It’s truly phenomenal that in a world with those TMZ bastards in it, Chadwick Boseman had people around him–presumably quite a few–to help him keep his illness a secret. In his final years he had the love and support he needed and that’s beautiful.

That’s true, he wanted to be remembered for his art, he didn’t want a sob story. It makes sense, it is probably the best decision.
I was a 10-year-old boy in 1969 and a Mets fan like my father, so the death of Tom “Terrific” Seaver hits me like the death of a family member. Always a solid pitcher and dependable team player, he more than anyone deserves the credit for taking a low-level rookie underdog team and leading them to victory in the World Series that year. We all knew it was inevitable after his dementia was diagnosed last year, but it’s still a sad moment.

Forgot to post this a couple days ago. Toots was the first to give the name “reggae” to the music he (and Bob Marley and Peter Tosh and other pioneers) brought to the world stage. He will be missed.

One of our two rabbits died this week. Abra was a good rabbit. He was shy and small and you’d always have to chase him a bit to pick him up and put him into his outside area. His fur was very soft and he had the best, best hair – he looked a bit like 80s Rod Stewart. Goodbye, Abra.
Ah sorry Christian, that’s very sad. I hope your other rabbit (it must be called Cadabra, right?) gets on ok without its partner as I know they can be very social animals.
Thanks, Dave, and yeah, that’s the name. We’re going to the animal shelter today to see if there’s a potential new compansion for her there.

Tony Lewis had a great voice for pop music, even if the lyrics to “Your Love” were predatory and creepy:
Josie’s on a vacation far away
Come around and talk it over
So many things that I want to say
You know I like my girls a little bit older
I just want to use your love tonight
I don’t want to lose your love tonight

That’s sad to hear. I, and my flatmates at uni, spent a shitload of time watching Stella Street. We’ve spent the evening messaging clips of it back and forth. Why this isn’t available as a box set on the iplayer is beyond me.
Is John Sessions the Sessions that David Brent mentions when he says he’d name 3 comedians if asked to name 3 geniuses?

My sister suggested Richard Splett from Veep as a replacement. Very unlikely, he seems to be more of an actor than a host type, but that would be so perfect.

Hugh Keays-Byrne (Toecutter/Immortan Joe from Mad Max) has passed away.
Hugh Keays-Byrne, an unsung hero of Aussie cinema, has passed away at age 73. I'm continually floored that he played Toecutter, the central antagonist of 1979's MAD MAX *and* Immortan Joe, the central antagonist 2015's MAD MAX: FURY ROAD. Thanks for all the entertainment, sir. pic.twitter.com/55W99w3wzq

Y’know, I could right now go for watching On the Air (barely remember that)
But I grew up with Squiggy. Sad. I guess making it to 73 is alright, but honestly putting an 8 or a 9 in front is loads better,

Fr @VictoriaYeage11 It is w/ profound sorrow, I must tell you that my life love General Chuck Yeager passed just before 9pm ET. An incredible life well lived, America’s greatest Pilot, & a legacy of strength, adventure, & patriotism will be remembered forever.
— Chuck Yeager (@GenChuckYeager) December 8, 2020
Yeager was a true American hero. My favorite scenes in THE RIGHT STUFF were the ones where he interacted with his first wife Glennis (portrayed by Sam Sheppard and Barbara Hershey), and of course his scenes in the cockpit of the planes that eventually broke the sound barrier.
Marguerite Ray Dies: ‘The Young And The Restless’ Actress Was 89
The Corben news is sad to hear. He was having a bit of a resurgence after Mike Mignola tapped him to draw some Hellboy comics, which led to him adapting Edgar Allan Poe stories for a Dark Horse series of one-shots. I was introduced to his artwork when his series DEN ran in the US version of Heavy Metal magazine in the 1970s, and I’ve enjoyed his unique art style throughout the years, whether in color or in black-n-white. He was an amazing artist. Rest in Peace.
