Given the prohibitions on displaying genitals in Japanese media, I can’t wait to see what they do with Emma’s sex scene in Gen V episode 1
Today’s episode of Gen V will be especially problematic in Japan.

See there they’d just blur out the guys cock and let the blood fly.
I’ve been enjoying Gen V, even if it is very much the ideas and character types of The Boys but just grafted on to a teen high school drama. The combination works pretty well.
Tek-Knight is fun in this episode too. I got slight Nic Cage vibes from the performance.
Yeah, Gen V works very well. It’s been moving a lot faster than I expected, too – what with them already breaking out Sam and whatnot. And the detective character was great.
Eh, it’s okay, it fits in well with the main show… I do wish the main black chick was a better actress tho, but I guess she fits perfectly with a teen drama =P
Could’ve done without the Pewdiepie jab in episode 1…
All caught up now.
Enjoying this, and laughed out loud at the “greatest hits”.
I felt like the latest episode was a little weak compared to what we’ve had so far. Having the characters’ memories wiped multiple times and then having them have to get up to speed on stuff we already know about is a bit boring as a viewer. It was a bit of a momentum-killer.
I gotta say, if Cate was telling the truth about Rufus then it’s extra shitty when she does stuff like make those guards kiss and then one to anally penetrate the other with a torch.

That’s true, it did kill the momentum a bit. On the other hand, as an ep in and of itself, it was pretty good, I thought.
Best bit was Sam’s vision. Puppet violence is always great. Bit of a callback to Noir on last season of the Boys, too.

Reminded me of that Angel episode with the puppets too.
Yeah, that’s right, I had to think of that, as well. Good times!
Until the last episode I never knew I needed to see a mupprt with an Uzi.
Until the last episode I never knew I needed to see a mupprt with an Uzi.
In America, that’s a constitutional right.
Another good episode that revealed more of what’s going on.
Looks like in the TV, it’s not The Boys plotting a Supocalypse.
I liked the sections in the mental landscape, it all felt very comic-booky. But I still feel like the plot has slowed to a crawl over the past couple of episodes, with not much sense of forward momentum for the story or characters. Hopefully it picks up again soon.

Yep, that was a lot of fun. And it was great to see Soldier Boy for a bit there.
But I still feel like the plot has slowed to a crawl over the past couple of episodes, with not much sense of forward momentum for the story or characters. Hopefully it picks up again soon.
Pretty sure it will. What we got this time was a pure character episode, and the way those characters were explored was a lot of fun, but it’d make sense to now get things moving again. I mean, they’ve got their shit together again, they’re pretty much at the point where they’re ready to go to war, and at the same time we’ve finally been shown what Indira’s actual goal is.
Pretty sure the carnage is going to start soon now.
Well, they certainly got back to the plot this episode. Everything wrapped up fairly quickly, but I thought in a satisfying manner.
Interesting that they had both Neuman and Mallory appearances in one episode.
All over but the crying, I suppose – the last episode will probably revolve around the gang trying to regain their footing and figuring out what’s going to happen now? Plus, there’ll have to be a new headmaster.
Oh yeah, no hanging around this week. Not sure how it’s going to end, but fucked-up is probably a safe bet.
That was a hell of a finale, and it’s heartbreaking that it needed to have that specific content warning at the start. Also there’s a mid-credit (or really, 20 seconds into the credits) scene so don’t turn the show off right away.
Hmm, all right then, a second season is booked, that defangs the crappy cliffhanger.
It was good but I really don’t like how it ended. I know what they’re going for, that it fits, but still don’t like it.

Yeah, that last ep of Gen V had things going pear-shaped to an extent I have to say I didn’t expect. It was a bit over the top that every person freed from that prison immediately turned into a mass-murderer, but it certainly made for a jolly exciting episode.
It was good but I really don’t like how it ended. I know what they’re going for, that it fits, but still don’t like it.
Fucking depressing ending, wasn’t it. But yeah, it does fit.
Looks good!
Homelander High-Tops, anyone? The Boys teases season 4 plot point with another perfect Trump parody – GamesRadar/Newsarama
The Boys is back with another tongue-in-cheek piece of political satire – and former US president Donald Trump is the subject.
“Today, Vought is proud to announce the Homelander High-Tops!” the show’s Vought International Twitter account posted, alongside an image of a pair of high-top sneakers. “Based on our greatest hero’s boots, these shoes will make you feel like you can fly. Available at a Super deal of $777, with all proceeds going to his legal defense fund. Get yours before his sham of a trial on June 13!”
These shoes are parodying Trump’s new ‘Never Surrender’ gold high-top sneakers, which he unveiled at SneakerCon earlier on February 18. The shoes have a letter ‘T’ on the side and an American flag around the collar and are on sale for $399. The Homelander High-Tops are also red, blue, and gold to match the colors of the Supe’s suit – and to bear a striking resemblance to the Never Surrender sneakers.
The “legal defense fund” mentioned in the Tweet refers to one of The Boys season 4’s big plot points: Homelander (Anthony Starr) is set to stand trial for lasering a protestor’s head off at the end of season 3.
The Vought Tweet was posted yesterday, the same day that the US Supreme Court ruled it would consider Trump’s claim of presidential immunity, delaying the verdict on his alleged subversion of the 2020 presidential election vote.

Y’know, I guess those might actually sell if they produced them.
Chance Perdomo, ‘Sabrina’ and ‘Gen V’ Actor, Dies at 27 in Motorcycle Accident
Actor Chance Perdomo, who played Ambrose Spellman in the Netflix series “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and Andre in Prime Video’s “Gen V,” died in a motorcycle accident on Friday, according to his representatives. He was 27.
No other individuals were harmed in the accident.
“His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest,” his representatives at Shelter PR said. “We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother.”
‘The Boys’ Renewed For Season 5 At Amazon – Deadline
Cool. I do wonder how long they’re planning on keeping it going though – season 4 already kinda feels like they’re pretty much finishing with the story. I sort of hope that season 5 will be the final one. It feels like the time is coming.
Yeah, I already felt like they were stretching it out a bit last season. It would be nice for the end to be in sight soon.

He had a five-year-plan for Supernatural too, and that lasted 15 years.
Kripke left Supernatural after S5, the studio kept it going.
The Boys Shocker: ‘Season 5 Will Be the Final Season,’ Eric Kripke Announces
That feels right. They way things have been going and what the upcoming Season 4 appears to be, it really didn’t seem like going it would go past S5. It has been a hell of a ride, though!
The Boys Boss Eric Kripke Says Amazon ‘Lovingly’ Questioned His Decision to End the Show
Three episode start huh? You greedy little bastards.
Watched the trio – they are not messing around.
I feel like the only way to improve the fight in the office was if Jack Quaid did some Boimler screams. And this is possibly the only show to get me from cackling madly at the “I’ll let you fuck me in the ass as we watch the Kim and Ray J tape” to going aaaaaa at the lobotomy in like seconds.
Even by the standards of The Boys, that was a fucked up episode.
More than “Herogasm?”
You know what? I think it is.
Sister’s wedding on Saturday. When we’re all seated for dinner soon I ask other sister if she’s seen “that scene”.
She replies “I watched it on the plane from Toronto! My god, the horror! So much worse when you think people can see you watching! Make it stop!
Got to admit my eyes are still burnt…
Wow, that was an excellent episode.
Damnit show, you can’t keep doing mood whiplash like that!
Bipolar, but in a good way.
Finally got caught up on this season. Pretty good so far, with a proper Ennis-y mixture of grotesque darkness and ridiculous laughs. While the plot does feel like an excuse to keep everyone running around in circles, I can’t complain when it’s this entertaining.
This week was quite good fun as I love Tek Knight. But the big climactic twist isn’t quite the surprise reveal they think it is – to the extent that I felt like they were deliberately leading us towards that idea in previous episodes to surprise us with something else instead.
Well we are deep into NSFW territory this season.
Prefer it the way its done this episode, almost show and let your brain do the rest. Seems a little more disturbing. Or does that say more about my brain?
Was surprised with Sage, but Oh yeah, not really surprising.
And the Alfred character had me scratching my head until his last scene and I clued in where I know him from:
(300 – “A thousand nations of the Persian Empire descend upon you. Our arrows will blot out the sun”
Ep 4.06 – well, that was a grim hour of an episode.
Fuck sake. I just now clued in to the meaning of “Web Weaver’s” safeword.
Ha!
Same here….🤣
God, this show it batsh*t crazy. But you can’t look away.
And the elevator doors closing with the butler and the red gimp waving bye : Pulp Fiction?
Side note: Eric Kripke and co. got the corporate, social, and political satire down pat!
If anyone wants to redo Robocop along the lines of the original (Verhoven) the guys could do it justice!
I appreciated this week that Hugie wasn’t OK with what happened to him in the Tek-Cave. Now obviously he’s been going through the rigner all series but it’s made clear that what happened to him is sexual assault and it is having a toll on him.

It was also positive that when Annie and Kimiko first saw Hughie trussed up, they didn’t laugh or make a joke.

Anyone going to try ringing 1-8001-Vought?
Well, wasn’t that a ripping good time? And then there was Avenue V….
Well, wasn’t that a ripping good time? And then there was Avenue V….
Eric Kripke must love puppets.
Watched the finale tonight. This season has been OK and has had its moments, but mostly feels like they’ve been treading water a bit. It had more of the feel of a mid-season finale than a proper endpoint (and I’m not sure what people who didn’t watch Gen V would have made of the ending).
Hopefully they have a decent finish in mind for the next one.
So I couldn’t escape so-called “spoiler-free” headlines that I saw right through and knew 2 things.
Ah well.
It was good, and I thought the season was good, just not as good as the previous two.
Definitely a set-up for the end kind of season.
Hope to see the post credits scene character play a major part in season 5.
Look forward to the end!
Just as this series made it abundantly clear that Homelander is a villain, so too does the finale emphasise that merely being in opposition to him does not automatically render Butcher a hero.
To be sure Hughie’s idea of forgiveness and being better are good ones, but a whole load of Supes need to go before they have a chance
Overall, it’s a mixed bag as a series. I think it suffers some from getting the fifth series, but it also suffers from some sequences that are, even by their standards, excessive.
Do want to see how it turns out though.
I liked it that they show took a swing at WB when they decided to shelf the A Train movie in favor of writing it off 🤣
I get the political correctness and apparent woke messages of some shows, but this show does it in its own way.
The right wing MAGAs actually figured out the show was poking fun at them and it pissed them off. 🤣🤣🤣
Firecracker fits being the spokesperson.
I feel bad for Hughie being assaulted more than once this season. And Starlight didn’t understand.
Heard stories about Erin Moriarty and her new face.
Sage reminds me of what Batman’s butler said about the Joker: Some people just want to watch the world burn!
Someone (as they always do) compiled the details of Sage’s “plan” I might just post it here.
Give Homelander credit. When there was a reading off of available supes and he found out about Sage, he honestly recruited her
for ideas.
Homelander got what he wanted in the end. Will he be content?
Starr’s performance got some fans to look at his earlier work, most notably Banshee. And that is good thing! I’ll always be grateful to MWer Nicholas Taggart for bringing up Banshee back in the day…
The Boys Prequel, Starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, Ordered to Series
The Boys is going back to the beginning: The prequel series Vought Rising, starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, was announced at the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel on Friday.
Ackles, who plays the original supe Soldier Boy on The Boys, helped reveal the news with a surprise appearance on stage in Hall H, while Cash (aka Stormfront) appeared via video.
“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys,” executive producer Eric Kripke and Vought Rising showrunner/EP Paul Grellong said in a statement. “It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”
Ackles made his debut as Soldier Boy during The Boys Season 3 and recently reprised the role in the show’s Season 4 finale mid-credits scene, during which Homelander discovered his biological father is still alive (but on ice, so to speak). Cash, meanwhile, was introduced in Season 2, which revealed her Nazi ties before the character was ultimately killed. The two actors will also serve as producers on the new series.
Vought Rising is the third offshoot of the Boys franchise, following the animated anthology The Boys Presents: Diabolical and the supes college-set Gen V, which is slated to return for a second season. A Spanish-language spinoff set in Mexico City is also in development.
‘The Boys’: Jensen Ackles To Return As Series Regular In Fifth & Final Season – Deadline
“We can announce that Soldier Boy will be a regular in Season 5,” Kripke said. “The motherf*cker’s back.” (You can watch the video below.)

They’re both good but I’m not sure how much more they can wring out of this franchise now.
They’re both good but I’m not sure how much more they can wring out of this franchise now.
There is also the fact that it’s a prequel, which is always a concerning sign.
Assuming the final season ends with major (and popular) characters dying, sequel series may not have the draw the main series has enjoyed. Depending on how the main series ends, there may be potential for sequel series though fans may take it as a jumping off point. The Spanish-language spinoff sound interesting, it may not have the draw.
I worry it may go the way of Star Wars and contract prequelitis and die the straw death.
Moving into the last third of the current The Boys season. There’s a lot of really fun stuff – especially loved Will Ferrel’s appearance and the farm animals episode – and the right amount of gross-out humour. But it’s also somehow (even) bleaker than previous seasons, I feel. The main characters either outright hating each other or being progressively estranged is a bit exhausting, I have to say. And Jesus, poor Hughie’s dad!
It’s still compelling viewing, but somehow less of a good time than I would like it to be. And I agree with Dave – I maybe wouldn’t quite call it treading water, but the whole season is lacking direction. There are so many different things driving the plot – the task of assassinating Neumann, Butcher and Homelander fighting for Ryan’s soul, Sage’s/Homelander’s plans of Supes world domination, A-Train as a spy, the Firecracker/Starlight conflict, Frenchie struggling with his past, Hughie’s dad dying… there’s a lot of subplots, but it doesn’t seem like there’s an actual main plot, so to speak.

As has been said, this really felt like it was “setting up the pieces” for the final season.
There was a lot of good stuff in it, but it could have been put together a bit better.

Yeah, well, there’ll be drunk assholes at a comic-con, sometimes.

I plan to go to NYCC next month if all goes well. There have been incidents at cons and that sign “Cosplay is not Consent” is now in a lot of cons. I am sure that more VIPS like Val Curry will get additional security.
Huh. Yeah, that’s an interesting sign. Jeez.
‘The Boys’ Season 5 Casts Daveed Diggs – Variety
Daveed Diggs has been cast in the fifth and final season of “The Boys,” Variety has learned.
Exact character details are being kept under wraps, but Diggs will appear in a series regular role in the Amazon Prime Video series.
Diggs is best known for originating the dual roles of Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette in the smash hit Broadway musical “Hamilton,” for which he won a Tony Award in 2016. Onscreen, he recently starred in the series adaptation of “Snowpiercer” and played Frederick Douglass in the Showtime limited series “The Good Lord Bird.” He has also lent his voice to animated shows like “Central Park,” “Star Trek: Prodigy,” “Krapopolis,” Amazon’s “Invincible,” and “Solar Opposites.” Diggs also co-created, executive produced, and appeared in the Starz series “Blindspotting,” which served as a followup to the 2018 film of the same name that he also starred in and co-wrote.
