And it’ll be stopping again in a few weeks when we go back into full lockdown.
Disappointing. I thought that had even more potential than Jupiter’s Legacy.

I wasn’t a fan of the comic, but a TV series could have been fun.
I wonder if we’ll get a date on JL sometime during NYCC?

Yep The comic was too familiar for me but TV could have done more with it.
Expanse looks great as always, The Stand looks… okay, and dunno about the Watch. Not very convincing at this point.
I don’t think it can cover up to Diana’s death in 1997 because they’ve cast Elizabeth Debicki in the role for S5. The trailer hints at that with the coffin scene but I think it must be misdirection – more likely Mountbatten’s death in 1979.

I guess it can’t be any worse than the final season was.
I guess it can’t be any worse than the final season was.
It really, really, really can’t be.
As they’re bringing the original showrunner back, after whose leaving Dexter (slowly) turned into such shitshow, I actually think this is a good idea. Sounds like we might be getting a proper last season of Dexter, which might wash out the taste of the one we got till now.
Yeah, those first four seasons were pretty good (and I never followed the behind-the-scenes stuff closely enough at the time to realise that the quality dip coincided with the showrunner change) so I’m cautiously hopeful about this.
Although given that he’s said this isn’t going to be a do-over that ignores the later seasons, it still has a bit of a mountain to climb to overcome those later developments.
Even in the original run, S1 was the only one that fully worked for me.
S2 went on and on about “should Dexter break his code to protect his secret,” and then completely chickened out on it by having Jaime Murray kill Doakes. S3 was all the Jimmy Smits stuff, which was okay at best. S4 had the great Lithgow A-plot, but everything else was pretty bad.

The Venture Bros. Creators, Adult Swim Have Discussed ‘One Last Special’
The Venture Bros. creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer revealed they and Adult Swim have discussed “one last special” for the canceled series.
Early last month, an Adult Swim institution came to an end with the announcement that the long-running animated series The Venture Bros. had officially been canceled after seven seasons. However, series creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer have revealed that they have had tentative discussions with Adult Swim regarding “one last special” to conclude the show’s story.
The seventh and most recent season of The Venture Bros. concluded in October of 2018, with the series being renewed for an eighth and final season shortly thereafter. Back on Sept. 5 of this year, however, Venture Bros. illustrator Ken Plume stated on Twitter that the show had been canceled, with Publick confirming two days later that The Venture Bros. had been axed during the writing process for what would have been Season 8. Nevertheless, Publick and Hammer remain hopeful the show will continue in some form or fashion.
During an interview with NPR, The Venture Bros.’ creators said they had “spent the better part of two decades nurturing [the show], and were prepared to say more with it.” Furthermore, Publick and Hammer revealed that there have been “on-again, off-again talks of one last special” for the series. Even so, the duo are “pessimistic about its odds of returning as a semi-regular show with proper seasons.” Notably, following Publick’s confirmation of the show’s cancellation back in September, the official Adult Swim Twitter account stated that the programming block “also want
more Venture Bros. and [has] been working with Jackson and Doc to find another way to continue the Venture Bros. story.”The original pilot for The Venture Bros. aired on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block in February of 2003, with the show officially premiering its first season in August of 2004. The Venture Bros. was Adult Swim’s longest-running series in terms of years on the air, with a total of seven seasons (including four specials) being broadcast from 2004 to 2018. In his announcement of the show’s cancellation last month, Publick wrote, “We thank you, our amazing fans, for 17 years of your kind (and patient) attention. And, as always, we love you.” In addition to Adult Swim’s tweet on the matter and the new comments by Publick and Hammer, there have also been rumors of a potential revival for The Venture Bros. on HBO Max. Still, there has been no official word regarding if and when the show will actually return for more.
‘Ginger Snaps’ TV Series Based On Horror Films In Works From ‘Killing Eve’ Producer Sid Gentle Films With John Fawcett As EP
This sounds interesting. it could go well or be a trainwreck. what stuck with me is the writer previously wrote “Channel 4’s porn-industry drama Adult Material” Huh? WTF? has anyone here seen this? Even if it was high quality the subject matter would seem to bring it back down again.

I haven’t but Boogie Nights was a really good film based on the same subject. I don’t think it should rule out any quality.
Tiny Toons are back
And a new animated series from Genndy Tartakovsky
I feel like resurrecting Tiny Toons is possibly taking too much advantage of the good will the Animaniacs reboot is garnering, but it’d be nice to see those characters back and well animated for once.
This year they can just call it “the dancer”.
I just got the word that ELMYRA will NOT be included in the Tiny Toons reboot 💔

No Activity Renewed for (Animated!) Season 4 at CBS All Access
No Activity is coming back for a fourth season at CBS All Access — and it’s getting a massive makeover, too.
The half-hour police comedy, which was previously a live-action series, will be completely animated for Season 4, the streamer announced Thursday. Patrick Brammall and Tim Meadows will be back to respectively voice Nick Cullen and Judd Tolbeck in the new episodes.
“We are so excited to welcome back the hilarious team behind No Activity for a fourth season and can’t wait to show fans their favorite mediocre law enforcement agents brought to life in animated form,” said Julie McNamara, executive vice president and head of programming at CBS All Access. “[Series co-creators] Patrick Brammall and Trent O’Donnell never cease to amaze with their unique wit and ability to make the mundane lives of these cops extraordinarily funny, and we’re thrilled that our long-standing partnership with Funny Or Die and Gary Sanchez Productions continues to grow and evolve. We look forward to the crazy antics and misunderstandings Cullen finds himself entangled in — and with whom — in the series’ fourth season.”
Added Brammall and O’Donnell: “We couldn’t be more excited for the opportunities animation will open up for the No Activity universe. We love drawing and have always wanted to express ourselves creatively in that medium. Then the network saw our drawings and said they would be more comfortable hiring actual animation people. Our feelings were hurt but we’re still very excited.”
Season 4 will find Cullen realizing his dream of joining the FBI, but he’ll soon discover that being an FBI agent isn’t that special, after all. “After being assigned to a seemingly dull observation detail, he finds a potential career case in the form of an emerging cult. A large scale operation soon takes aim at the cult, but it’s unclear which side will break first,” the logline reads. “Despite the promotion, Cullen’s path continues to cross with former partner Judd Toldbeck’s, who adjusts to life with a new partner of his own.”
I haven’t but Boogie Nights was a really good film based on the same subject.
When I first saw it I thought it was a serial tv show so i was thinking tv show quality and budget not movie quality and budget. I also think Boogie Nights is more an exception to the rule than the standard. but who knows
‘Ginger Snaps’ TV Series Based On Horror Films In Works From ‘Killing Eve’ Producer Sid Gentle Films With John Fawcett As EP
Is there enough that makes Ginger Snaps unique? It was a neat little teen werewolf movie, but there’s been a lot of werewolves on TV since then… why exactly go back to this source specifically?
The Chase: ABC Orders UK Quiz Show Adaptation Featuring Jeopardy! GOATs and Host Sara Haines
As previously rumored, Jeopardy! GOATs James Holzhauer, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter are now double-secret confirmed to take turns as The Chaser, who challenges the players to think faster than they ever thought possible. (The trio’s head-to-head-to-head battle in ABC’s multi-night Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time tournament way, way, wayyyyy back in January scored huge numbers for the broadcast network, delivering north of 15 million total viewers at one point and above a 2.0 demo rating.)
The UK show is absolutely huge, and for a few years was pretty much the only show my dad watched (which wasn’t difficult, as it seemed to be on a dozen times a day).
It’s odd it’s even happening though, as there was an America version of The Chase (using at least Mark Labbett off the British version) a few years back. Does make more sense to do it with people the audience will know.

‘The Umbrella Academy’ Renewed For Season 3 By Netflix

The Justice Friends from Dexter’s Laboratory Deserve a Revival
Why TV’s next Golden Age might come thanks to adult animation
Aren’t we already in the “new TV golden age”??
I’m pretty sure we’ve been in it at least since GoT…
At least since 2013, when Netflix launched House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, showing that the idea of prestige television was not restricted to the old networks.
You could even go further back to The Sopranos and The Wire.
They almost seem long enough ago to be considered as the first wave, led by HBO and ably assisted by the likes of AMC. The 2010s would be the second wave, fronted by Netflix and latterly Amazon and the likes, complete with comic book based shows that don’t make you want to roll your eyes all the way to the back of your head.

I wouldn’t say AMC as part of the first wave. They weren’t doing much of anything then.
FX, on the hand, was putting out a lot of top quality shows. The Shield and Sons of Anarchy were early hits. They still have a higher standard of quality than most networks.
I don’t have a hard and fast rule of when these waves happened but in my mind the likes of Breaking Bad and Mad Men are in that first, pre-streaming wave.
well there’s been “premium tv shows” for a while, mostly by HBO (something like Band of Brothers and Rome come to mind), and sure AMC’s Madmen and Breaking Bad (although I don’t think Madmen ever got as popular as BB or others) were pretty much the first 2 shows of this kind in the late 00’s (maybe Showtime’s The Tudors, too), but I think it’s just better to round things up and say it started in the 10’s because that’s when things REALLY got into full gear with, once again, AMC swinging the doors wide open with the Walking Dead.
It’s at that point that Showtime, Starz & Cinemax joined the fray in full, with stuff like Spartacus, Davinci’s Demons, Black Sails, Penny Dreadful, Homeland, Banshee and of course Game of Thrones, and then a couple of years later the Netflix stuff started to happen with Orange is the New Black and Daredevil, and from there on and on to today’s plethora of premium content.
So while it techincally started in the 07’s more or less, it’s just easier to round up to the 10’s… plus none of those early shows got a huge buzz at the begining anyhoo… it was really in the 10’s that people were ready and looking for those types of shorter TV shows. I do think The Walking Dead might just be the “watershed moment” in this instance.
Oh btw, by “premium TV shows” I just mean the shorter season, big budget(ish) shows… stuff that doesn’t look like a frickin sitcom.

Pretty good concept to revive a character like Lupin. And the series actually looks very well done.

That dubbing was terrible, they better have an option to watch it in French. Also, they should just license the newer Lupin III anime while they’re at it.

Trailer for the Silence-of-the-Lambs themed show “Clarice”.
Called Clarice, the new sequel series finds Pretty Little Liars and The Originals alum Rebecca Breeds as the title character. According to CBS, the series is a “deep dive” into Claire’s untold personal story, and it takes place in 1993, a year after all that went down in Silence of the Lambs.
The official synopsis continues: “Brilliant and vulnerable, Clarice’s bravery gives her an inner light that draws monsters and madmen to her. However, her complex psychological makeup that comes from a challenging childhood empowers her to begin to find her voice while working in a man’s world, as well as escape the family secrets that have haunted her throughout her life.”
I don’t know, I’m already bored with this. After Hannibal, what’s the point of making another show based on these books/that movie?
The rights around Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs are so weird. Hannibal the TV series had the rights to everything except Silence of the Lambs, so they could use Hannibal himself and everything from Red Dragon and Hannibal and the origin story novel, but not characters created in Silence of the Lambs (ie. Clarice) or the events of that book itself.
They found some creative solutions to it, and the show was good, but it always felt like a shame they couldn’t do the most famous Hannibal story.
This Clarice show seems like a really odd idea though. I’m not sure there’s enough there (without all the other Hannibal material) to create a TV show that’s more than a generic thriller. I guess they feel like they have to use the rights somehow (maybe for contractual reasons?).

That’s a horrendous synopsis. Victim-blaming much?

Yeah, I think the Hannibal showrunners also tried to work out a deal with them to use Clarice and they didn’t go for it because they were already developing this show here?
Clarice Starling is an interesting character, but honestly far less so than Will Graham. What you’re left with is your basic FBI-agent-hunting-serial-killer show, and there’ve been quite a lot of variations on that recently. I doubt it’ll catch on.
Well, except if it’s really, really good :)

I don’t know; I’m kinda hoping there will be a series about Senator Ruth Martin’s kidnapped daughter, who was told to rub the lotion on her skin or get the hose. Lotsa potential with that one!!
Brian K. Vaughan to Write Buck Rogers TV Series for Legendary
In more poorly-considered franchise-extending TV show news, Noah Hawley is doing an Alien series, set on Earth:

I just rewatched all the Aliens, and I’m not into this at all, especially setting it on Earth. It’s supposedly close-to-present-day though, so I guess it’s not in the movie continuity and can be ignored.

I searched for Noah Hawley, and found these links:
The Verge, Polygon, ComingSoon, and lots more confirming an Aliens series.
Actually, I trust his name so immediately look forward to this.

Yeah, same here. Like Paul, I’d rather see an Alien series set in the future and in space, but: Noah Hawley.
Ehhhhh a Disney made Y the Last Man??? That’s worrisome… =/
It’s FX, which was part of Fox, so is now owned by Disney. It’s a Disney Y: The Last Man in the same way Fargo is Disney’s Fargo.
Disney+ are adding another tier to international service, Star, with some of the mature content that’s on Hulu in the US, and raising the price to €8.99 a month:
Disney+ To Add Star Content In Europe, Australia, Canada & New Zealand
They’re saying “continental Europe” for now, so I guess not Ireland or the UK?
“Star” just makes me think of a lesser Starz.

Sebastian Stan as Tommy Lee? sure why not… Lily James as Pamela Anderson??? ehhh… nah, she doesn’t look even remotely close to her =/
Why? Without Harry Anderson (who died in 2018), there really doesn’t seem to be any reason for this. Clarification: any GOOD reason for this.

If they have the character of Bob Wheeler as a regular, I’d watch it.
Taskmaster series 10 finished tonight and so the cast for series 11 has been announced:
Charlotte Ritchie
Jamali Maddix
Lee Mack
Mike Wozniak
Sarah Kendall
I have zero idea who the last two are, but it should be a fun group based on the other three alone. Meanwhile I’ve been watching the NZ version of Taskmaster this week (after a Twitter recommendation), where I haven’t heard of anyone (not even their Taskmaster) and that’s been proving pretty fun too.
