Bit of a logical flaw there, Doom. If a Black Superhero was with the FF, I’d expect Black Panther; The “craziness” could be misinterpreted “Nervousness that he’s going to start a Latverian-Wakandan War”

You probably wouldn’t expect Black Panther if one hour earlier you had met Luke Cage in New York, hired him to do a job for you, and absconded without paying him.

I haven’t read that comic. I was wondering how Doom knew about Luke Cage

Quick synopsis of Hero for Hire #8 & #9 (because I bet most people who (re)post that panel have never read it):
.
Some of Doom’s robots obtain sentience, steal tech from him, disguise themselves as black men and flee to New York.
.
Doom realises he doesn’t have any minions who can blend into Harlem to look for them, so hires Cage to find them.
.
Cage finds them, smashes them, Doom returns to Latveria without paying him.
.
Cage gets a lift from the FF, confronts Doom, fights him for his money.

It was $200 Luke went to Latveria for. Even in the 70’s, that might not have been a lot of money. It was the principle. Luke did his work and he expected the proper compensation.

There was a Luke Cage and Iron Fist story where they met a knock off of the Doctor, and helped him fight knock off Daleks. I’ll try to find a scan of a funny panel from it.

Tim has dwelled on this panel enough.

I have that issue of Damage Control, it’s literally their head of finance going to ask DOOM! for the arrears on his account, and the Fantastic Four being worried he’ll get disintegrated.

I’m reading the new Asterix book with my daughter, and I enjoyed this little Avengers reference.
