My blockbuster Winni-the-Pooh vs Dracula treatment might finally see the light of day!
INT. WINNIE-THE-POOH RESIDENCE, BEDROOM
SFX: insistent tapping at the window
VAMP PIGLET: Let me in, Pooh!
POOH: Geez, how little brain do you think I have???
VAMP PIGLET: I have hunny!
POOH: Oh well, come on in then.
FADE TO BLACK, PROTRACTED SCREAMING.
Well, none of my attempts to embed are working so here’s just a link to it. Artist Mark Eastwood has drawn 30 odd Jean Grey costumes and made a nice animated timeline of them.
Yeah, because if there’s any piece of media from the last year I’d call “mere entertainment”, it’s fucking Dune.
It’s like I always say:
Children are the future which is why they must be destroyed.
Help them Todd!

Yeah, with that sort of attitude it is.
A sword would have been more Biblically accurate.

I always thought that Tom Baker dr Who looked scary as hell. Psycho eyes.
I can’t read the top left text. What are the names supposed to signify? Some of those names are not the official English names of Dutch towns. Like Den Haag is The Hague, not The Haw. Vlissingen is Flushing, not Flashing.
Names of cities in other languages are fascinating. Like Venice is Benatky in Czech and Mleci in Serbian, Vienna is Bec in Turkish, Bratislava is Pressburg in German. Those are the weirdest ones I know

I can’t make out that text either but it’s just taken the names of the places and made it look/sound like english placenames. Belgium is turned to Belly, Germany to Teechland. I gather it’s just for fun. And to upset locals (also fun).
Found a similar one for England, but with italianized names.

Rotterdammers are probably happy their name wasn’t changed. You don’t want to piss off a Rotterdammer!

I’m curious as to how far these translations reach.
In Welsh there are translations for towns and cities across the UK and Ireland – Dublin is Dulyn, London is Llundain and Edinburgh is Caeredin -but they tend to just use the local names when you go further away (although sometimes with spelling to match the alphabet so it would be Fienna for Vienna as there’s no V in Welsh).
Are there local names for say Beijing or Montevideo?
