Apparently, Alison Brie is being eyed for She-Hulk.

  • #15813

Seriously? It’s gonna take a lot of CGI to turn her into Jennifer Walters.

1 user thanked author for this post.
  • #15820

Meh, not more than it takes to turn ruffalo into Hulk… but yeah, I suppose the problem will be the budget, althouhg since it’s for a series I’m guessing she’s not gonna hulk out all that much, in which case, yeah I’d rather see more of her anyways, so… huh good? xD

And hey, who knows, maybe they’ll spend a bit more cash for their shows… Mandalorina was clearly a low-ish budget thing, but Marvel’s got a lot more money to burn in the end…

  • #15831

In what way was Mandolarian lowish budget? They were spending $15 million per an episode. That’s the same amount as most low budget films.

  • #15840

15 million?? Holy shit… most of them were 30 mins long…  and it still looked like ass… xD

    I think GoT’s most expensive episodes went around 10mil… So yeah… =/

Ah well, if they willing to burn that much money on the mandalorian, the marvel series should be good to go.

Edit: Oh I didn’t answer your question… it looked like TV… sure, good FX and whatnot, but it still looked like a TV show, not like a movie… I’m really astounded they spent all that money… what the fuck did they do with all of that?

  • #15842

They were spending $15 million per an episode.

I think a lot of that went into developing the non-greenscreen technology they used.

  • #15843

Yeah that probably means its a tax write off or they can even the loss out across future productions.

    Hooray for hollywood accounting!

  • #15859

I don’t know but I think it’s obscene that they spent a 100 mil for what, 4.5 to 5 hours, of mediocre TV… Like seriously, I don’t know where all that money went, because it’s not like there’s a gigantic cast or even any big stars… hell your “main” actor shows up once for like 2 minutes… And it doesn’t even look like all that amazing if we’re being honest, you can see the usual TV signs all over the place, aand thought the FX is mostly decent, it’s nothing worth noticing either.

Wow… it’s really really surprising… and quite disgusting, tbh.

In Marvel Universe, Jennifer is 5’10”. Alison is 5’2″. If she gets the job it will be like a Reverse Hugh Jackman. Tall guy plays short hero gets flipped to short woman plays Tall Hero.

  • #15906

I don’t think Jennifer’s height really matters that much. She-Hulk has to be huge and amazonian otherwise the whole concept doesn’t work but Jennifer is just the average alter-ego. She’s a lawyer and they are allowed to be any height. :-)

  • #16262

Can people please stop posting stories from Cosmic Book News?

Why? Is it particularly worse than any of the other rumour sites? Genuine question.

I don’t follow these rumour sites really but I heard the Cavill Wolverine rumour, googled it, and posted the first link that came up. There were countless other similar stories from other sites that I could have posted instead, so if you let us know which ones are preferred I can always edit the post and change the link.

Anyway, like I say, I think the rumour is bollocks but I just thought it might generate some fun discussion.

  • #16264

They’re one of the big proponents of Comicsgate and stuff like that. They’re the ones who are always starting rumours about shit like Marvel wanting to replace Brie Larson.

This is the kind of stuff they write:

6 users thanked author for this post.
  • #16265

Ok, I don’t really follow any of that stuff and I don’t frequent that site often, so I didn’t know about that.

Didn’t mean to offend anyone with the link – the report at that specific site obviously wasn’t the point, just the rumour in general, but obviously all this stuff is more loaded than I realised these days.

1 user thanked author for this post.
  • #16311

Yeah, the “news” sites are a massive minefield due to the rise of “concern” over “forced diversity”.

What’s most interesting is the same shit comes up across the board in the same flashpoints – Star Trek, Star Wars, superhero comics, video games, films.  Which pretty much convinces me its the same small but vocally active lot behind it all.

3 users thanked author for this post.
  • #16328

Yeah so it’s the same crap everywhere, basically… I don’t see the point of berating people for posting a link from x or y particular clickbait site…

  • #16350

Paul simply had the same response to that link as I have to those of the Daily Mail, but the reputation of it won’t necessarily be known internationally so you tell people what that reputation is.

2 users thanked author for this post.
  • #16352

As long as people are aware they can choose to read or share the sites they want (as long as it’s legal) or do the opposite and choose not to. I personally don’t want to click on links from The Sun or The Daily Mail, so I won’t. It’s infinitely easier to ignore crappy clickbait sites that 90% of the time just make shit up, I just can’t be arsed any more,  but if you want to read them all day then this site isn’t stopping you. There are no filters or bans in place.

Paul just asked nicely with a bolded ‘please’ and that’s fine too.

    We can move along now.

Yeah, this is just me not being keyed into that stuff and not being aware of the connotations. This is a rumour that was doing the rounds all over the place, not just at that one site, and if I had known how loaded that site was then I would have just chosen a different report to link to.

It’s WGTC, so take with a grain of salt:

Venom 2 Will Reportedly Be Much Darker Than The First Film

  • #16438

I give no credence to WGTC.

The humour was the thing that lifted ‘Venom’ in it’s second half. It starts like a horror movie but ends like a weird buddy comedy.

One of the final examples of the legacy problems establishing a tone for the film is that Venom eats someone’s head at the end of the film and they have to cut around it! They don’t want to lose the scene, but they can’t keep the actual moment where Venom does his bitey thing.

I’d hate to see them make the same mistake in the sequel.

‘New Mutants’ Reshoots Never Happened Because Cast Was Too Old After Disney-Fox Merger
Cast member Maisie Williams assures fans “The New Mutants” being released in theaters is “exactly the movie we set out to make.”

    Zack Sharf

When “The New Mutants” opens in theaters nationwide this April it will bring to an end an infamous production that saw multiple release delays and much-discussed reshoots. Except all of those reshoots the media wrote endlessly wrote about never happened. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, “New Mutants” director Josh Boone puts an end to the rumors stating over half the movie was reshot in order to drastically change the tone and story of the film. The director says no reshoots ever occurred because the film went on a hiatus during the Disney-Fox merger and by the time that hiatus was over his cast aged out of their roles.

“Everybody said we did reshoots! We’ve never done reshoots,” Boone tells EW. “And I’ll tell you this: if there hadn’t been a merger, I’m sure we would’ve done reshoots the same way every movie does pickups. We didn’t even do that because by the time the merger was done and everything was settled, everybody’s older.”

Boone says he had to stop working on “The New Mutants” for over a year as the Disney-Fox merger was worked out between the two companies. During this time, the filmmaker went on to develop and create an CBS All Access series based on Stephen King’s “The Stand.” Boone says he had completed about 75% of the movie in post-production when the call came in to stop working on the project. Disney called over a year later and asked Boone if he would come back to finish the film, an opportunity he jumped on without hesitation.

“We came back and finished it up. It took a couple months, and it was nice to be able to come back,” Boone says, “Knate [Lee], my co-writer, and I, we hadn’t seen it in a year. We did a bunch of things here and there that we hadn’t thought about or noticed a year before.”

“The New Mutants” cast member Maisie Williams assures fans the upcoming theatrical release is “exactly the movie we set out to make.” The actress told EW, “I was nervous when they were talking about reshooting or re-editing that it was gonna be very different, but honestly, it’s exactly what we set out to do.”

“It’s very thriller,” Williams adds. “I think the nature of a bunch of teenagers being trapped at a facility, all with individual powers which they don’t know how to use yet or even summon, that lends itself really well to suspense and scary cuts. It’s all done in a very honest way and it really does come from the characters and the situations that they’re in. It’s not a happy, upbeat superhero comedy film. It’s definitely very dark.”

“The New Mutants” is opening in theaters April 3.

  • #17352

Well the way things are shaping up, the odds of Natasha (and even Tony) coming back are good… Not necessarily “our” Natasha but eh… I guess it’ll depend more on the actors and whether they want back in. Right now I’d actually prefer for Pietro to come back…

Here is an unused Dr. Strange astral form version from the Dr. Strange movie.

  • #17572

Yeah theres a multiple earths gameplan

That’s the problem though… kinda renders a lot of things moot…

Like, in Endgame, sure they saved their Earth and what not, but if we assume they created a new one when going to the past and allowing Loki to escape custody, that probably means that particular “earth” or timeline or whatever got wiped by the Dark Elves since Loki wasn’t there to help Thor. So sure, they saved their own, but kind of destroyed another one nilly willy… so at that point, just go fetch an alt-natasha and an alt-tony from any other alt-earth… consequences be damned

On the other hand, maybe they’ll address all that mess they made in the Loki series… doubt it but hey who knows…

  • #17606

I don’t like MCU and none of them are good movies (except first Iron Man and Cap 2), but i don’t think they’re “officially shutting down”, it’s more like they’re in the pause to keep all the cast and crew safety from the coronavirus outbreak, not just for Marvel Studios, especially everyone at production companies, they have to deal with the productions and delays later once coronavirus is over (hopefully).
