I would like to see Brainiac av the villain. But in a universe where Krypto the Super dog exists, I wouldn’t feel that the pre-crisis Terra-Man or Vartox was out of place.

So give me a movie with Superman versus Terra-Man on a winged horse.

Yeah, and the show is very careful about having diverse scenes normally.

DC Studios Taps ‘American Vandal’ Creators for Jimmy Olsen TV Spinoff (Exclusive) – The Hollywood Reporter

The show would be led by Skyler Gisondo, reprising his role as Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen, with season one focusing on Gorilla Grodd.

Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, who created the award-winning mockumentary American Vandal, are going into the DC Universe.

The duo will write, executive produce and showrun the Superman movie TV spinoff to star Skyler Gisondo, the actor who played Daily Planet photographer and unlikely ladies’ man Jimmy Olsen.

Gisondo and the character became a true breakout from James Gunn’s summer movie, and a show was put into development around him. The concept centers on Olsen, as well as other Daily Planet reporters (minus Lois Lane and Clark Kent), who tackle cases involving super-powered villains.

Gorilla Grodd would be in the spotlight for the season. Grodd is a super-intelligent evil ape who rules a secret African city named Gorilla City. The character is a key antagonist for the Flash, and first appeared in an issue of the Scarlet Speedster’s comics back in 1959. He was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino.

Gunn and his DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran will executive produce. Galen Vaisman is overseeing for DC.

Perrault and Yacenda running the show tips off the tone of the series. The comedy writing duo got a big break with American Vandal, which parodied true-crime series but with a story about an investigation into who and why someone vandalized a school parking lot with phallic images. The show earned a Peabody Award as well as an Emmy nomination.

First Lanterns Teaser Trailer Description Reveals 4th Green Lantern – Super Hero Hype

A new preview for DC Studios’ Lanterns series has reportedly surfaced, drawing attention after its debut at the HBO Max Upfront event in São Paulo. The teaser offers the first look at the long-awaited Green Lantern project and provides key story details. With its 2026 premiere approaching, interest in the series continues to grow.

At the HBO Max Upfront event held in São Paulo on November 25, 2025, DC Studios unveiled the first teaser trailer for its upcoming series Lanterns, as reported by Omelette.com.

The teaser, not yet released online, shows Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) training together for several months. It presents Hal as a “substitute teacher” figure, though it does not reveal whom he replaces. The footage includes a brief scene of Hal flying and mentions Ch’p, DCU’s fourth Green Lantern after Guy Gardner, Hal, and John. Ch’p is a squirrel-like Green Lantern Corps member from the comics.

The teaser sets the story in rural areas of the United States. It uses a western tone and brownish hues in both the setting and costumes. Stewart and Jordan argue, with Stewart claiming he outperforms Hal in saving lives. The preview does not show either character in an official Green Lantern uniform.

The eight-episode series follows Stewart and Jordan as they investigate a murder in the American heartland, possibly involving a Green Lantern Corps member. The case leads to Stewart receiving his power ring and uncovering a dark, Earth-based mystery.

Executive producers Damon Lindelof, Chris Mundy, and Tom King co-wrote the story. Mundy stated, “Our show is in a lot of ways about replacement—when should someone step aside and when is it time for the next person to take the reins?” (via Men’s Health)

The cast includes Garret Dillahunt and Kelly Macdonald. Nathan Fillion returns as Guy Gardner, reprising his role from Superman.

The series is expected to premiere in the second half of 2026 on HBO and HBO Max.

Scarlett Johansson in Final Talks to Join ‘The Batman’ Sequel – Hollywood Reporter

Four years after leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe behind, Scarlett Johansson is headed to DC’s Gotham City.

Sources say the actress is in final negotiations to join The Batman Part II, the long-gestating sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2021 hit. If the deal comes together, it’d be a jolt for the project which aims to go before cameras next year. She will first film The Exorcist, to which she signed on last week, before moving on to Batman.

Johansson is one of the more bankable stars in the world, with her work in Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff in the MCU just part of her hits, which include July’s Jurassic World: Rebirth. She also recently released her directorial debut, the low-key drama Eleanor the Great, starring June Squibb.

It’s so clever, because she’s a teenage girl and they say “whatever” all the time.

She’s wearing sunglasses, headphones, and a trenchcoat! Real young people do that, too!

    She’s relatable!

What a bold departure for Gunn’s DC. I wouldn’t mind it being another version of Guardians but it’s not even him directing this one.

Right now, the popular fan cast for Power Girl is Sydney Sweeney:

Is there anyone else who would be a better fit for the role? There has to be.

  • #144565

Why do we need a live-action Power Girl? She’s just a confusing alternate version of Supergirl.

I think you know the answer to that, Paul. It’s the same reason we have Power Girl in the comics.

‘The Batman Part II’: Sebastian Stan In Talks For Role Opposite Robert Pattinson In Sequel – The Dish – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: After landing Scarlett Johansson for a new role in The Batman Part II, director Matt Reeves looks to have snagged one of her Avengers co-stars for another new role in the upcoming sequel. Sources tell Deadline Sebastian Stan is in talks to join the highly-anticipated DC Studios sequel in a role which is unknown. If a deal closes, he would join Robert Pattinson, who is set to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader in the upcoming sequel that Reeves is writing and directing.

The DC Studios pic is set to start production in the spring and will open in theaters on October 1, 2027. DC Co-bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing as well as Dylan Clark.

Reeves’ The Batman was the first mega theatrical blockbuster for Warner Bros post-Covid after implementing a day-and-date release strategy on HBO Max. The movie starring Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz grossed $369.3 million at the domestic box office and $772M worldwide.

Stan is no stranger to the comic book pic after playing the role of the Winter Soldier for the past decade, most recently seen reprising it in the Marvel Studios pic Thunderbolts*.

He also was recently seen in his critically acclaimed role as Donald Trump in The Apprentice, which earned him a Best Actor Oscar nomination for the part.

    Superman and Lois
At the start of series 4 and this riff on Luthor really doesn’t work for me. This pathetic, needy, desperately seeking validation, utter whinger.
Nor does the whole wrongly jailed aspect work, seven life sentences for one murder? Nah, he got done for more than that, screw him.
It’s iPlayer so might as well see how it plays, but every single moment with Luthor has been an utter dud and I don’t expect that to change.

Really enjoyed the S4 and series finale for Superman and Lois.

In some respects it has a good few things in common with Picard’s finale. Both finales are superb, but with a slog of a road to get to them.

The biggest weaknesses was Luthor and McCoy. It’s fine for Luthor to be this petty psycho, but his constant whining and need for validation were total duds. This Vic Mackay Luthor did not work for me at all. His final duffing-up was very good though. And then there is McCoy, going full on for a cuddly serial killer psychopath that she thinks she can fix.

Things that worked well, the creation, use and resolution of Doomsday, Jordan coaxing May through a panic attack, the decision to give up hiding being Superman.

And then there was the superb one year later and much further extended epilogue. Among other things, it emphasised the core of the series, Clark, Lois and their relationship. All the way to the end. Then it wove in everyone else.

Batman Movie ‘The Brave and the Bold’ Taps Christina Hodson to Write for DC Studios – Hollywood Reporter

Andy Muschietti remains involved as director as the studio takes a measured approach in its development.

Christina Hodson, known for her work in the big IP and action spaces, is working on a Batman movie for DC Studios, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Hodson is writing The Brave and the Bold, the feature project that is centered on Batman and Robin. Robin, in this version, is Damian Wayne, the murderous tween raised by assassins who also happens to be the son Batman never knew he had.

It is unclear how far along is Brave and the Bold in the writing process. DC Studios had no comment on Hodson’s involvement.

DC has faced conflicting currents in the development of its Batman movie. James Gunn and Peter Safran, who head DC, announced a Brave and the Bold project from the outset of their launching the superhero movie division in 2023. Andy Muschietti, who directed The Flash for Warner Bros. and the previous DC film division, was on board to develop and direct the project.

But finding a writer and a take on the material proved, for the longest time, elusive. Muschietti remains on board, but his ultimate involvement depends on several factors including timing and availability. The filmmaker now finds himself a hot commodity thanks to the muscular success of Welcome to Derry, HBO’s It series. A second season is now in the works, even if it has not been officially renewed.

Then there is the Batman movie now in preproduction from filmmaker Matt Reeves and actor Robert Pattinson. DC is said to be giving Reeves’ project ample space to breathe and is no rush to put forth another Batman feature into the marketplace. It wants to make sure that Brave and the Bold is distinct enough in tone and look to stand apart, regardless of when it gets made.

Hodson has gained respect from peers and execs for her strong scripts. She has worked in the Gotham City corner of DC before, having penned a script for a Batman Beyond feature that earned praise inside the studio but was never made.

She has several other DC credentials, having worked with Muschietti on Flash. She also penned Margot Robbie-led Birds of Prey movie. Her other credits include the 2018 Transformers movie Bumblebee.
