Anyway, there’s going to be a Keaton Batman who may or may not share a universe with an Affleck Batman and there’s a Pattinson Batman who has nothing to do with either of them? And none of them have anything to do with the Phoenix Joker?

You know what they need? A big event where they all get collapsed into one version in a single universe.

They could call it… “Calamity”… uh… “Predicament”… uh… give me a minute to work on it, I’m sure there’s a cool name they could use… :mail:

Zack Snyder Planning New ‘Justice League’ Shoot Amid Ray Fisher Claims

  • #38940

Oh those must be the pickups Snyder wanted to shoot… more Harry Lenox (Martian Manhunter) scenes and possibly some GL stuff… I wonder if they’ll manage to get Reynolds for this… it’d be a perfect opportunity.

And also, one has to wonder if he’ll be tweaking the ending of the whole thing, to make it final (which might entail an actual scuff with Darkseid)… I mean, they might as well leave it open-ended… so I reckon most of the new photography will concern whatever scenes he needs to add to make it work as a 4 episodes thingie… so probably scene transitions and the likes.

  • #38950

Why the hell would Snyder want Ryan Reynolds’ GL in his movie? Why would literally anyone want that?

1 user thanked author for this post.
  • #38952

I mean, 1) GL wasn’t as horrible as people say it was, 2) Mostly, the issue was the attrocious CG costume that made him look really bad and 3) Reynold’s got a Reynoldssaince in recent years, people like him, and he’s probably up for the “redeeming” thing (as long as the costume isn’t CGI, of course)… he’s certainly winked and joked about it plenty enough.

So, basically, there’s actually a lot of people who want that, myself included. Though I think they had a balck guy in mind for the JL’s GL, so they could also use him… but to be fair, Reynolds reprising the role would also get a TON of press, which is always good.

  • #38954

Since the whole point of the Snyder Cut seems to be to excise anything remotely humorous from the movie, I can’t imagine any circumstances where Reynolds’ GL would fit.

Ah, films are slow and heavy animals. If doing a TV series on the side allows Gunn to produce more content, I’m all for it.

Plus, this is great for all those who were pushing for John Cena to get a superhero role. He was never going to get a big one, and this is going to be awesome fun I have no doubt.

  • #39494

Well I mean, Cena could still get something big-ish in the MCU… He’d do a good Hercules I reckon… Herc is kind of a goof in the MU, so he could very well replace Hemsworth’s Thor when he’s done… well, as long as Cena can do funny and act well enough of course.

The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader, is on the move again. After a series of production delays, the superhero pic’s release date in theaters is being pushed from Oct. 1, 2021 to March 4, 2022, Warner Bros. announced Monday evening.

Other major changes include the untitled fourth The Matrix movie moving up from April 1, 2022, to Dec. 22, 2021.

On the DC front, The Flash, starring Ezra Miller as the superhero, is moving back from June 3, 2022 to Nov. 4, 2022. Shazam! 2 is leaving that Nov. 4, 2022 date and is shifting to June 2, 2023, while Dwayne Johnson spinoff Black Adam is moving off its Dec. 22, 2021  and is now undated.

    A new cartoon for kids:
Batwheels Animated Series Makes Tracks for HBO Max, Cartoon Network

Batwheels, an animated preschool series about “sentient super-powered crime-fighting vehicles,” has revved up production at Warner Bros. Animation and will ultimately park at Cartoon Network and HBO Max.

Starring “the most heroic and iconic vehicles from the DC universe,” the action-adventure comedy series follows “a team of incredible crimefighters who have banded together to oppose evil, combat crime and clean up the streets of Gotham City, working alongside Batman, Robin, Batgirl and a host of DC Super Heroes.”

“Having just been created by the Batcomputer, our heroes are essentially kids with little to no life experience,” reads the series synopsis. “Led by Bam (aka the Batmobile), the Batwheels — including Bibi (Batgirl’s cycle), Red (the Redbird), Jett (the Batwing) and Buff (the Bat Truck) – must navigate the growing pains of being a newly formed super team as well as the growing pains that come with just being a kid. This relatable and aspirational series will follow the journey of this dynamic team as they thrill and entertain with their heroic adventures as well as demonstrate to kids the value of self-confidence, friendship and teamwork.”

“Batwheels is the perfect show to headline our new foray into preschool,” Tom Ascheim, President of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics, said in a statement. “I can’t wait for all the aspiring super heroes out there to meet this whole new batch of crime-fighters.”

‘Green Lantern’ Series Gets Green Light From HBO Max

First announced a year ago as one of the DC Comics properties coming to HBO Max, it’s now confirmed that the streaming service will soon include a brand new TV series about Green Lantern, the group of space cops powered by magical rings that can create anything out of green energy. The show will run for 10 episodes, each one hour long. Back in 2019, Greg Berlanti was announced as the producer developing the show; today we know that he’ll be joined by writer/producers Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim.

Surprisingly — and that may be too mild a word for it — both Berlanti and Guggenheim worked on the script for the disastrous 2011 Green Lantern movie, starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, the most famous Green Lantern from DC Comics. In the interim, Berlanti and Guggenheim have gone on to become two of the key architects of the far more successful Arrowverse on The CW. It’s very rare to see anyone get this kind of second chance on a property after blowing it so badly the first time. But Berlanti and Guggenheim now have one.

According to Variety, the new Green Lantern “will depict the adventures of a multitude of Lanterns, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott — Earth’s first Green Lantern, who, true to the comics, is a gay man — and many more.”

I read the article. I think they have gotten better(i.e. better received) at the superhero thing and

they ultimately lost creative control before its release.

may have something to do with it. they can claim it wasn’t them who screwed the pooch on the movie. “It was all Reynolds’ fault.”

I am really looking forward to it because it includes the most entertaining GL —– GUY GARDNER.

Around 12 years ago my employer put in place a direct customer request page to see what they really wanted from the computers they released. Democracy and the customer voice in action.

The massively overwhelming answer by tens of thousands was PCs shipped with Linux. They saw the demand, released PCs with Linux installed, sold fuck all. The whole thing was hijacked by Linux enthusiast groups spamming the page because they love it (but also don’t really want it pre-installed for themselves because Linux fans are tinkerers). The request page was retired with a loss of several million dollars.

This is the problem here with responding to ‘demand’ on the internet of small groups making a lot of noise. The Snyder Cut fans will be happy and good on them, I have no shares in Warners, but the end result will be they have pissed $70m up the wall for no return whatsoever.

It’s a small subsection of viewers of a film that didn’t do very well. I could have told them.

No, they’re no longer releasing the “Snyder Cut”… I thought that was clear when they announced “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” is gonna be a 4-part premium show on HBOMax…

You should all know by now that the press has been historically wrong about this whole thing 90% of the time, so when you get a report about the “Snyder Cut” you should maybe not pay a lot of attention to it. If a “journalist” can’t even get the very basics straight, yeah…

Remember when they said it didn’t exist? Remember when they said it’d never be released? Remember when they said it’d never get additional photography? Remember when they said Leto would never come back? Remember when they said Affleck wouldn’t come back? etc, etc, etc…

Also, is this a good time to remind people all the shit I got for “talking shit about stuff other people enjoyed”? Or does that only apply to me? Don’t worry, that was rhetorical.

No, no-one said any of that because the working theory was that everything had been shot for the Snyder Cut. The prospect of reshoots was only raised recently altogether, and as far as I can tell no-one had any expectation of Leto being involved with the project at all.

    :rose:

No because they’re also releasing it as a movie… somehow… It’s unclear what that means or entails, but Snyder said it would be released in both formats…

Remember when they said it’d never get additional photography? Remember when they said Leto would never come back? Remember when they said Affleck wouldn’t come back? etc, etc, etc…

No, no-one said any of that because the working theory was that everything had been shot for the Snyder Cut. The prospect of reshoots was only raised recently altogether, and as far as I can tell no-one had any expectation of Leto being involved with the project at all.

No, the “working theory” was that most of the “Snyder Cut” was already shot… important to note that Snyder himself said he didn’t get to shoot a 100% of what he wanted/was planning to because he got fired before he could get to those during the scheduled reshoot/additional photography cycle.

The moment they announced a mini-series, it was OBVIOUS that they were gonna need to add and probably shoot at least some material to convert that “Snyder Cut” material into 4 episodes… I mean, that’s as logical as it gets.

The Leto thing is a bit more weird, yes, because he was indeed not part of the “Snyder Cut”, but it does seem he was part of the original script for JL Part One, back when it was still a “Part One (of Two)”… So if he’s going back to his “original idea”, then yeah it makes sense… in fact, I’d also expect news of Joe Mangianello going back for additional photography as well…

Edit: That’s why the Leto announcement is very exciting btw, because it means there’s a potential revival of the original 2-part plan in the works, in some fashion… It also means that it’s possible we might get to see a lot more Darkseid than expected. But again, who knows? Snyder might just want to include some flashback scenes to Robin’s murder for exemple. That is actually a more probable reason, tbh.

  • #41501

Oh btw, just so everyone is on the same page, here’s a quick easy-to-understand chronology of the “script versions”

So the first script was they one the were working on while BvS was in post and up to the release of BvS which was a week or so before going into production of JL. That original script was for PART ONE, meaning it was probably quite different. That script was never shot per-se, because as we all know BvS came out, got a shit reception and the WB execs hit the Panic button… so that’s when we get to:

The second script, which was the script that got shot (and it was mostly shot, since they finished principal photography), AKA the infamous “Snyder Cut”… That script was reworked to be a single one off JL movie, so a lot of the ideas of the original 2-part plan were probably removed/reworked. So just to be clear, when people talk about the “Snyder Cut” or the “214 cut”, this is the script they’re referring to.

The third script is the Whedon script, meaning the one that contains all of the Whedon re-writes and the one we got to see in theaters.

Soooo… with that in mind, the announced “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” project, is none of the above per-se. Obviously he ain’t gonna use any of the Whedon stuff… But beyond that, from what we understand, what he’s doing is taking all the footage he has from that “Snyder Cut” and repurposing into a longer & bigger thing… remember, that “Snyder Cut” was 214 minutes long, the mini-series is expected to be 240 minutes long as per the announcements. So, the wroking theory is that this mini-series will be mainly the material/footage from the 2nd script (with changes, obviously) but that he’ll also be adding stuff from them first… we just don’t know to which degree…

There’s also a very strong rumour going around that they might be setting up a continuation of the “Snyder-verse” in case it indeed is as popular as to warrant it. So they might be adding some lead-ins to a possible Batfleck movie/series or even a Cavill Superman sequel.

Point is, no one really knows, and most reporting on this has been bullshit since day one… so the safest bet is to stick to what Snyder himself has said and what the trades are actually confirming, not just reporting as “rumours”.

Edit2: Just for accuracy’s sake, that was not an official announcement, merely a clickbait “exclusive” from Collider (I should’ve known): “HBO Max hasn’t confirmed yet”… so yeah, grain of salt and all that… =/

huh… the previous post disappeared after and edit… weird… anyways, repost:

It got marked as spam somehow – I’ve restored it.

Even the board software is biased against the Snyder Cut!

    Yeah no shit… I’m telling you, there’s an anti-Snyder conspiracy going on… =P

Thanks for restoring it, but no need, I was able to press back and copy it… at least the board allows you to do that =)

I think the board doesn’t like it when you edit it too much… I kept editing to fix spelling mistakes =/

Also, is this a good time to remind people all the shit I got for “talking shit about stuff other people enjoyed”? Or does that only apply to me? Don’t worry, that was rhetorical.

I hope you don’t take our pisstaking personally, but The Snyder Cut is aggressively eyeing the list of board-specific top memes like Brometheus and The Man of Cushion.

I count at least three MCU actors in that group shot (Elba, Rooker, and Dastmalchian), possibly four if that is Waititi standing behind Capaldi. To be fair, though, Dastmalchian showed up in the Dark Knight series before his turn in Ant-Man.

Steve Agee, playing King Shark, was in GotG2.

And Sean Gunn, who had a main role in GOTG and GOTG 2, plays Weasel in Suicide Squad. I suppose James Gunn has a few favorite actors that he likes to use in his films.

Well, Sean is his brother isn’t he so that one kind of goes without saying. But Suicide Squad also has Nathan Fillion, with whom Gunn worked on Super and on Slither (which also had Rooker). So yeah, he definitely likes to work with people again.

Man, I love that image so much. This is going to be so much fun, and it’s going to just blow Suicide Squad 1 out of the water. This gives you an idea what DC movies could be if they finally fired Loeb and hired someone who went with big, bright and crazy ideas.

Wait isn’t Loeb at Marvel TV? I mean, not for much longer… but still… =P

I still want to see the Ayer Cut, btw…

I don’t, by all means go forth and piss… however I expect the same treatment, that’s more the point here.

Yeah, shit, meant to say Johns. Wrong Jeph (or Geoff, as it may be). But the same goes for either really :).

I always confuse the two of them too =P

IIRC Loeb is on his way out since Feige is taking over the TV division… Johns is unfortunately still in, but only on the DC/WB side… which is not the same thing as the HBOMax side… I dunno, it’s kind of a mess over at ATT… they’ll probably be doing some re-structuring soon enough.

In fairness to DC, their television universe (aka Arrowverse) has been handled much better than anything Marvel has put on the small screen so far (with the exception of Legion, which really stands by itself). Credit due to Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and the others who have turned the Arrowverse into a popular subfranchise.

That looks eerily similar to Injustice 2’s Redhood… but that’s not as bad thing, so :good:
