Anyway, there’s going to be a Keaton Batman who may or may not share a universe with an Affleck Batman and there’s a Pattinson Batman who has nothing to do with either of them? And none of them have anything to do with the Phoenix Joker?

You know what they need? A big event where they all get collapsed into one version in a single universe.

They could call it… “Calamity”… uh… “Predicament”… uh… give me a minute to work on it, I’m sure there’s a cool name they could use… :mail:

I’m kinda good with it ending where it did.  Though I won’t be mad if they do more and it keeps to the same standard.

I want to say that some time ago, I saw plans to that effect. Not sure when it will happen.

There’s probably some logistics in moving accounts to HBO Max.

I don’t know about it, and googles searches containing the words “flash” and “boobs”, while interesting, are not very helpful.

  • #31302

Well the word is Gal Gadot flat-out refused to do the stupid “Flash landing on WW’s boobs” joke, because it’s obviously dumb and crass, so Whedon kinda forced her stunt double to do it… now, how “forced”, who knows… but the stunt gal didn’t really wanna do it either. That’s the “word”, but do remember that there’s probably nothing official (that I know of), yet.

  • #31417

Disappointing to hear about Whedon’s behavior. Doubtful will ever know the extent of what went down, but I’ve no reason not to believe Fisher.

  • #31451

I mean, I know Whedon is a fan-favorite, but it’s not like his hypocrisy (at the very least) hasn’t been exposed before… so like Chris, there’s no reason to not believe Fisher… plus the fact that this could be a career-ending move, and I’m sure he ain’t THAT dumb to go public like this after all these years without at least having something to back it up.

Also, there seems to be a rumor that Johns is on the outs, which might be why now… and Berg’s response was… uninspired, to say the least.

‘Stargirl’ Renewed for Season 2, Moves to CW From DC Universe

    By Joe Otterson

“Stargirl” has been renewed for a second season at The CW.

With the renewal, The CW and its digital platforms will be the exclusive in-season home of the series starting with its second season. Season 2 will not stream on the show’s original home at DC Universe. It was announced ahead of the series premiere that episodes of the show would air on CW the day after their streaming debut on DCU.

“Stargirl” follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) as she moves to Blue Valley, Nebraska after her mother remarries Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson). There, she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. It also stars Amy Smart, Trae Romano, Cameron Gellman, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson, Jake Austin Walker, Christopher James Baker and Hunter Sansone.

The show debuted on DCU on May 18 and on CW on May 19. Like other streamers, DCU does not release viewership numbers. On CW, the show has done well, particularly for a summer series. To date, it has averaged a 0.2 rating in adults 18-49 and just over 1 million viewers per episode in the Nielsen Live+Same Day ratings. That is on par with other DC superhero shows that aired on CW during the regular season. In Live+3, the show rises to a 0.4 and 1.5 million viewers.

Geoff Johns created the comic book series and serves as co-showrunner and executive producer along with Melissa Carter. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Productions also executive produce. It is based on the characters from DC created by Johns as a tribute to his sister. The series is produced by Berlanti Productions and Mad Ghost Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

“Stargirl” was the first DCU show to find a home on CW but not the last. In announcing its fall schedule, the broadcaster revealed it had acquired the broadcast rights to the DCU show “Swamp Thing,” which was canceled at the streamer shortly after the launch of the first season.

Other DCU shows have found homes on other platforms as well. The second season of “Doom Patrol” recently debuted on both DCU and HBO Max, while the animated DCU series “Harley Quinn” will soon be available on HBO Max as well.

Oh I saw one episode of that one… yeah… =/

Anyways, seems DC/WB have a pretty gigantic distribution mess right now… there also seems to be an internal struggle over which “services” should stay and go… the whole DCU thing should probably go now that there’s HBOMax, or I mean, I guess keep it for people who only want the DC stuff, but I hope they’re not gonna start having DCU-exclusives and that kind of bs…

Robert Pattinson’s Batman hasn’t even finished filming yet but his world is already expanding. Director Matt Reeves and Sopranos producer Terrence Winter are teaming up to do a Gotham City set police procedural on HBO Max that takes place in the same universe as the upcoming film.

It’s a shame nobody told them that Gotham was already a show that ran for five years.

Also, yet another nail in the coffin of DC Universe.

Will the Snyder Cut of Justice League be any better than Joss Whedon’s original?

I doubt it will be worse.

  • #32326

Man, imagine their surprise when they realise it won’t even be a movie but a TV mini-series… xD

Also, I kinda wish people would stop the “when Snyder stepped down” narrative… there’s enough at least reasonable doubt about that whole thing to at least aknowledge the fact that he was probably fired.

But anyways, fuck yeah it will be better… and with a little bit of luck, not only it’ll be better but it’ll also make BvS even better by actually making sense of the whole Knightmare thing… here’s hoping!

I’m hoping the snyder cut gains sentience and is saved from killing itself at the very last minute, by the efforts of the suicide prevention crisis groups that the fans collected money for.

And then one week later, the theatrical cut of Sucker Punch unloads a huge fucking #metoo thing against the snyder cut on twitter. With images.  And boy it’s bad. I mean BAD. The suicide prevention groups are complicit. The fans too.

And then, while sharing a cell with Ghislaine Maxwell they both mysteriously die from ingesting far too much hydroxychloroquinine.

  • #32452

Gotham was essentially a schlocky superhero show whereas a Gotham Central style show would presumably be a much more grounded and adult police procedural/cop drama affair with a very different feel to it.

If there’s room in this world for two different cuts of the same Justice League movie then I definitely think there’s room for two completely different TV shows set in Gotham. :rose:

Flashback to 2017. My 4th job as an actor, my first recurring guest star, and my first time having a stunt double— and they painted her black. I was very uncomfortable (as anyone would be to meet your double in blackface) so I spoke up for myself, I pulled one of our producers aside and asked “Why isn’t my stunt double black like me? Isn’t that the point of a “double?” She responded “Sure. But we couldn’t find a black stunt double in LA. Los Angeles doesn’t have many black stunt performers. But aren’t you happy to be working? You should be thankful to be here.” ….I immediately started to question myself: “Do I sound ungrateful? Am I complaining? Maybe this is just how it is?” So I said “okay.”, I sat down in my chair, shut up, and tried to think positive thoughts. (Hence my smile in this photo) But really, I felt powerless, voiceless, and somehow ungrateful…. Anyone who knows me knows that “grateful” is one of my favorite words and feelings. So in this moment I felt like somehow I was in the wrong for speaking up for myself. But NO, she was wrong. See, there’s this oppressive thing that often happens when everyone and everything are ran by white people on sets (and in any industry) where they try to manipulate POC into just being GRATEFUL to be there. They do this to us because they know that they *literally* run the show. They feel like a savior for giving a young black girl a role in their show, even though most times it’s just to check a box. They often don’t check to see if we are comfortable with what they are asking of us, they often call us unprofessional or a diva for advocating for ourselves, and most times they get away with paying us wayyy less than our costars…. This is why being inclusive and hiring POC in front of the camera and behind it, is extremely imperative. Luckily for me, I kicked ass in my action scenes and my stunt double wasn’t even used. But the thing is, the whole time I kept telling myself “I have to be great. No, I have to be better than great. I have to be so amazing that they don’t need her. No one can know that I have a stunt double in blackface.” **more to the story: Rest in comments**

    Superman: The Movie

I have friends that dis that, or should I say, “used to”
The tag line was “you’ll believe a man can fly” and they pulled it off in the ’70’s.

The lead for the movie could only negotiate himself 3rd on the list.
Yet can you imagine a better person in the role?
Seriously, without workout trainers for 6 months before filming.

    It’s perfect for the day.

So I kept typing, and while not trying to make a big point, didn’t want to withdraw. – Sean

Yet my first thought was when I’m in the theatre in 1978 (and just a little before my 10th birthday).
There are some lines of dialogue you just wouldn’t do, but the one I remember is the one my mom didn’t like (and I could ‘feel’ that), the “rap in the mouth” misogynistic comment.
Made worse when you think a man wrote it, another man directed, and they make a female say it.

One little thing in a movie, but because it’s a favorite of mine, it bugs me.
At that time they should have been better.
And such a classic, yet you have to watch & teach with your kids together if you want them to see it.

Good to hear. I don’t want another movie about Bane after the, in my never-particularly-humble opinion, disaster that was TDK Rises, and I don’t want Bautista to become type-cast in superhero movies and action flicks. He was really, really good in Blade Runner 2049. I would like to see him explore more of that kind of pulled-back acting.

I agree. He had good comedy instincts in GotG but they were very specific to that character, and he didn’t leave much of an impression in that Bond movie he was in. But he was very good in Blade Runner.

Tom Hardy is a hard act to follow, too – he’s in a different league from Bautista.

Agree with Anders that I don’t really want to see Bane, but does “Tried my best” mean that he went in for an audition and that Bane is in the movie? These days, of course, it could also mean “I tweeted that I want to play Bane in the new Batman movie”…

I agree that it looks awfully simple, but still kind of like it. It does resemble a real bat a lot more than most comic book and movie bat-logos.

And I’m pretty sure we saw a glimpse of it in the test footage reel (or was that a tiny teaser?) with Pattinson. It’ll probably look better with some more texture on it either way.

It’s okay… it does look like an actual bat, which might be a first… I would still tweak it a wee bit, like make the bottom pointy anyways, and just some balance stuff… it would look more like the beyond and the modern symbols.

WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Now, that’s some good news… Although, I’m thinking he won’t actually be in-costume for the Flash movie (and IF he is I hope they go with the BvS costume), but even so, it doesn’t matter… this is great news because that means Affleck is, as I suspected, still interested in Batman, and this could potentially mean his original movie plans with Manganielo’s Deathstroke coming back, or even a mini series on HBOMax…

Surprised as I thought he was done. Guess this is a fan-service thing with all the Batmen.

Well he was definetly done with all the bullshit from the studio execs at that time… that much is clear… But he was always excited for his solo movie, written by himself and his pal Chris Terrio (both of whom were obviously gonna follow the Snyder version, which is what might’ve been the point of contention with the studio). And so now that those folks are basically gone and someone smarter is calling the shots, this might actually happen.

Also, yeah, I’m thinking they’ll use the Flash movie to go full into the whole Multiverse thing… Oh man, that Fandome thing is gonna be hype as fuck.
