I finished the main campaign in Gotham Knights on the PS5. It’s not a great game, to be fair. It is a little buggy, and quite repetitive. It also could have done with a little more thought and user centred design. But, for all it’s faults, it does have an exciting story, captures the chemistry between the characters well, and I got to kick ass as Tim Drake for a few weeks playing this. I never in a million years thought I’d ever get to do that, so for that alone it gets a pretty big thumbs up from me. That was fun, and I’m pretty sure it’s something I’ll come back to when I fancy going out on patrol for a night or two. I might even suit up as one of the other characters from time to time.
I saw the PS5 version is already down to £29.99 pre-Christmas, which is quicker than I expected. Might check it out at some point next year.

“Young master Drake, this is the library. The games room is over there.”
Do what Alfred tells you Vik. :)
So this year, my last two issues of venom still to come out, superman black label coming, Redcoat volume 1 and a massive Marvel thing I’m already deep into. Plus other things to talk about later.

Hitch art. Superman. Black Label.
That is all.
Glad that’s still happening, it was announced back in mid-2021: https://bleedingcool.com/comics/mark-waid-bryan-hitch-kevin-nowlan-black-label-superman-from-dc-comics/
I’m also happy that it shows Black Label is continuing as that’s consistently been DC’s best output for me. Sometimes with presentation to match – the squarebound OHCs are excellent.
DC Solicitations for April 2023
DC Reveals New Titans, Green Lantern, and Cyborg Books – ComicBook.com
The Dawn of DC is continuing full steam ahead. On Wednesday, DC revealed the first details surrounding the second wave of Dawn of DC books, which will be available wherever comics are sold beginning in the early summer. These include the first looks and creative teams for the previously-announced Cyborg and Green Lantern (formerly two separate books, Green Lantern: Hal Jordan and Green Lantern: John Stewart), as well as the announcement of a new Titans series from Tom Taylor and Nicola Scott. Green Lantern will be available on May 9th, while Titans and Cyborg will both launch on May 16th.
Green Lantern will be written by Jeremy Adams with art by Xermánico, and will also feature the first chapter of a John Stewart Green Lantern story from writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Osvaldo Montos. In the main story, spinning out of the events of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Guardians of Oa at the heart of the Green Lantern Corps have quarantined Sector 2814, home of the planet Earth-and its champion along with it! A heartbreaking defeat has sent Hal reeling, returning home to rediscover his roots…and find the man responsible for ruining his life: Sinestro. At least if you’re willing to hot-wire a power ring to do it.
Titans will be written by current Nightwing writer Tom Taylor, with art by Nicola Scott. In it, the Dark Crisis is over and the Justice League is no more. Now, a new team has to rise and protect the earth…TITANS! The time has come for the Teen Titans to grow up. Each member joined as a much younger hero certain that one day they’d be invited to join the Justice League. Now they’re not just joining the League…they’re replacing it! Are the no-longer-teen heroes ready for the big leagues? Danger lurks around every corner as Super Heroes and Super-Villains alike challenge the new team before they’ve even begun. Will the DCU ever be the same?
And finally, Cyborg will be written by Morgan Hampton from The Milestone Initiative Talent Development Program, with art from Tom Raney. In it, when a family emergency brings Cyborg back home to Detroit, Victor Stone surprisingly finds himself enjoying returning to the simpler life–where everybody sees him for who he really is and always was, rather than a larger-than-life superhero. It’s been a while since Vic’s been able to lower his guard and seek a purpose outside of being Cyborg 24/7. But a lot has changed in Detroit while Victor’s been away. An aggressive new company is turning the Motor City into an overclocked engine for revolutionary artificial intelligence…and no one knows better than Cyborg that technological transformation always comes at a steep human price! Fans can also get a preview of what’s to come for Cyborg in Hampton’s story in next week’s DC Power: A Celebration.
DC Teases the Return of the Justice League – ComicBook.com
The Dawn of DC initiative is now underway, bringing to life a slew of new stories inspired by the publisher’s heroes and villains. The storyline was set in motion by the events of last year’s Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event — which, in turn, was kickstarted by the apparent death of the Justice League. In the aftermath of Dark Crisis, it has seemed as if the Justice League would be disbanded going forward, setting the stage for the Titans to become the universe’s premier super-team. But as a new tease from DC reveals, that might not be the case in the long-term.
On Wednesday, DC announced the first details surrounding its second wave of Dawn of DC books, accompanied with a new roadmap of the total initiative. If you turn the brightness up on the roadmap, it reveals a clear look at some of the titles yet to be officially announced. In addition to a Hawkman symbol and what appears to be a blood-stained Wonder Woman symbol, there is a new logo: “The Return of the Justice League.” Of course, we’re left guessing exactly when and how the team will return, much less who will be on the new roster. But based on its spot on the map, it appears to be in the latter half of 2023.
Wow, deluxe version of Superman: Camelot Falls.
Jesus they’re rebooting DC again or just a relaunch?
Are they keeping the massive “families”? =/

Are they keeping the massive “families”? =/
It’s Big Two comics. There is always a cycle of death and rebirth, whether an individual character or line-wide.
I mean, yeah sure, but DC’s been doing that shit every other year since the nu52 debacle… it’s a bit ridiculous at this point.
DC Reveals New Wonder Woman Creative Team
Er….Yeah. Not convinced by that combination.
WW has had a real grab bag of creative teams since Rucka.
I am kind of intrigued by King/ Sampere on Wonder Woman.
I’m really quite excited by Spurrier/ Deodato Jr on a sci-fi horror Flash though. That sounds way left field, and clearly not long for this world, but a combination that may prove hard to resist.
I’ve been struggling to get into a lot of DCs output of late but this couple of announcements have my interest.
I took a bit of a break from King, but recently read Gotham City Year One, Danger Street and Love Everlasting and I think they are all great. I’m tentatively optimistic for him doing a wonder women book. It’s interesting to see how he will get on with his first ongoing since Batman.
Adams Flash has been getting pretty much universal praise so it’s disappointing to see him drop off, however Spurrier is absolutely gold this last few year so I’m very excited to see him get a big ongoing.
Michael Dorn on Steelworks is an odd one and these things rarely work out well, but I’m curious enough to check it out.

DC Announces New Superman and Teen Titans Series Written by Mark Waid – ComicBook.com
Mark Waid’s list of titles at DC is growing. On Wednesday, DC announced two series that will be penned by Waid — Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor, and World’s Finest: Teen Titans. Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor will be a new collaboration between Waid and JLA artist Bryan Hitch, while World’s Finest: Teen Titans will be drawn by Wonder Woman’s Emanuela Lupacchino.
Both series are set to be available in July 2023, with Teen Titans arriving on July 11th, and Superman arriving on July 25th. To celebrate, DC will be making the first three issues of Batman/Superman: World’s Finest and Superman: Birthright available to read free with DC Universe Infinite registration.
What is Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor about?
In the three-issue DC Black Label series, Superman learns Lex Luthor is dying—and wants the Man of Steel to help him find the cure for whatever is causing his rapid decline. While the world wants to say good riddance to Luthor, Superman will go to the ends of the universe, through different dimensions, and across time to save his foe. But just why does he want to save the person who’s spent his life trying to destroy him? And will he even be able to find the solution? Issue #1 will feature a main cover and interior artwork by Bryan Hitch and soon-to-be-revealed open-to-order variants by Kevin Nowlan and Chris Samnee, a 1:25 variant by Yanick Paquette, and a 1:50 variant by Evan “Doc” Shaner.
“For the first time, Superman’s fighting the tide of public opinion, embarking on a mission that billions of people outright oppose. But he has his reasons—partly because of who he is, but partly because of a debt he feels he owes—and readers of Superman: Birthright might already guess what that perceived debt is,” said Waid. “Together, Superman and Lex are racing the clock in search of a cure as they travel the breadth of the super-universe, from Atlantis to Kandor to the Phantom Zone, all spectacularly reimagined by Bryan Hitch.”
What is World’s Finest: Teen Titans about?
World’s Finest: Teen Titans is spinning out of the pages of the runaway hit Batman/Superman: World’s Finest and features a modern retelling of the early adventures of the original Teen Titans! Led by Robin, the Boy Wonder, a new super-team has burst onto the scene—meet the Teen Titans, DC’s grooviest group full of super-teens with super-problems. When they’re not fighting alongside their Justice League mentors, they’re managing their image and cultivating the rabid fan base that helps them save the world…as, all the while, a danger from the shadows intends to tear these friends apart before they ever reach the big time. Before they were the Titans of the DCU, they were the Teen Titans, and you won’t want to miss this fresh take on their origins.
World’s Finest: Teen Titans #1 will feature a main and 1:100 cover by Chris Samnee, open-to-order variants by Evan “Doc” Shaner and Jim Cheung, a 1:25 variant by W. Scott Forbes, a 1:50 variant by Lupacchino, a special foil variant by Cheung, and a blank sketch cover.
“I’ve had so much fun writing the Teen Titans in Batman/Superman: World’s Finest that DC asked for more, and I couldn’t be happier,” Waid explained. “Taking our cue from the main World’s Finest book, the series is set in the not-too-distant past, when Robin led the team—including Bumblebee and Mal Duncan—as they answered calls for help from kids worldwide and dealt with their celebrity status. The real fun for the wonderful Ema Lupacchino and me is revealing many surprising secrets about who each of the Titans really is. Even longtime readers will be stunned by these untold revelations.”

Thanks for sharing Sean.
I don’t want to tempt fate, but are DC very slowly getting their house in order?
Both of these sound good, although I’ve pretty much now moved to reading in digital after a couple of grim years from DC so I’ll probably hold off and read them on the app a month after they come out.
Wow, both of those sound excellent.
Great to see what the Waid-Hitch Superman project is.
DC SOLICITATIONS FOR JULY
That’s a pity, I could see King and Gerards working well on a Dr Fate series and it’s a character I’ve always really liked.
Power Girl Is the Superman Family’s Only Hope in New Ongoing Series
I attempted to read that back up in Action Comics, it’s god awful.
Second thing I’ve read from Leah Williams and it will be the last.
This ‘ongoing’ series will be lucky to see double figures.

despite the Geoff Johns connection (and I can take or leave this idea of his of creating “forgotten” kid sidekicks for every golden age hero), I’m interested in these. Pretty much the only new thing I’ve wanted from DC for years now is a revisionist JSA series set in the 40s, similar (but not necessarily as dark as) Sandman Mystery Theatre. The GL and Sandman ones at least sound like that. The artist on Sandman posted some designs on Twitter and the cast seems faithful to SMT.
I’m interested in all of those, as I’m in deep on the JSA, but I’d rather Johns was writing them.
That said Venditti is capable of decent books at times (Hawkman was good) and Jeremy Adam’s is one of the better new writers to emerge at DC since Future State.
Tim Sheridan is pretty hopeless though, I don’t really understand DC (and Marvel) continually giving work to folk whose books tank both critically and commercially. I assume he’s cheap.
I’ll read them all on the app, which DC has pretty much trained me to do since last year, with the odd exception.

EXCLUSIVE: Deathstroke, Black Adam’s Priest Wants to Write a Power Girl Series
Deathstroke and Priest want to co-write a Power Girl series? I’d read that.
Interesting bit in that article is Priest’s Black Adam run is 12 issues, which is no bad thing.
There’s an animated version of Watchmen coming. Yes really.

BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD’S FINEST #20
Written by MARK WAID Art and cover by DAN MORA
The return of Boy Thunder! To find and save Superman’s former protégé, the World’s Finest duo bridges the dimensional gulf between their world and an Earth with a jaded Superman, a broken Batman, and a war-hungry Wonder Woman—the world of Kingdom Come!
Hhn….Could be interesting.
In other news DC can’t stop being DC as they announce new omnibuses with stupidly high RRPs:
Young Justice Volume 1 $150
Zero Hour $175
Over in the bat-books, spinning out of Batman: Knight Terrors, comes Gotham War. A crossover event by Zdarsky, Howard and Rosenberg. I am not interested. This chain of books is something DC has really racked up over the last year or so and it’s irritating. Standard practice sure but also irritating
Christian Ward’s Batman: City of Madness could be worth a look. A Black Label take on the Court of Owls.

I was enjoying Zdarsky’s Batman and it was one of the few books from DC I was still getting in print, after this crossover was announced I’ve dropped it.
I like Catwoman but a crossover with books written by Tini Howard and Matt Rosenborg I can’t be dealing with. Rosenborg’s creator owned stuff is ok but his big two stuff is really bad. Howard is one of the worst writers of this generation.
I don’t get the decision making at all at DC it’s one step forward two steps back constantly.
I refuse to financially contribute to this crap any longer.
Aaron and Mahnke on a Batman mini!
https://www.ign.com/articles/batman-off-world-dc-jason-aaron-preview
Batman: Off-World
6-issue mini series covering Batman’s first trip to space. Feels fitting with what Zdarsky had go down in the Failsafe arc.
This is the kind of project that gets my interest – a compact, done-in-one story.
Along with Christian Ward’s Batman: City of Madness there’s a good few interesting stories upcoming.
DC do rely on Batman but with the stories being good, they have reason to.

On my regular bulletin of “things featuring the Legion this week”, I just got this:
One REPRINT appearance this week.
THE NEW GOLDEN AGE SPECIAL EDITION 1
This special edition reprints the New Golden Age one shot that led to the Geoff Johns JSA. This time it also includes short previews of the upcoming mini-series for the Golden Age Flash, Green Lantern, and Sandman.
So it now appears that DC are so desperate for content they are reprinting issues and adding marketing material so they can label it a SPECIAL EDITION. Woo, and indeed, Hoo.
Oh, the reason it counts for the Legion cameo bulletin: there’s a one-page Who’s Who entry for an unknown Legionnaire that was completely redacted in the original and apparently still is in the reprint. So this one’s just for collectors who are even more hardcore than me

DC revives the fan-favorite Elseworlds imprint in 2024
After two decades, it’s time once again for fans to step outside the mainstream DC Universe and discover… Elseworlds.
Announced at the Lunar retailer breakfast at New York Comic Con 2023, DC is reviving the fan-favorite Elseworlds imprint — which has previously given the world titles like Kingdom Come, Superman: Red Son, and more — with six new titles showcasing brand new reimaginings of icons including Batman, Green Lantern, and the Justice League, as well as sequels to some of the most successful out-of-continuity series from DC in recent years.
The new titles launching the reborn Elseworlds line are:
- Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age by Andy Diggle and Leandro Fernandez
- Batman the Barbarian by The Human Target’s Greg Smallwood
- Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter by Jay Kristoff and Tirso Cons
- Green Lantern: Dark by Tate Brombal and Werther Dell’Edera
- Batman: Nightfire by Clay and Seth Mann
- DC vs. Vampires: World War V by Matthew Rosenberg and Otto Schmidt
Superman Superstars will take over Action Comics in 2024 – Newsarama
Prepare to enter the House of Braniac…
DC is turning the spotlight on Action Comics in 2024 with a new “Superman Superstars” initiative, announced today at New York Comic Con.
From January through December 2024, DC will pair some of its most popular writers and artists in a series of exciting mini-arcs – and we’ve got the details of the first two right here after this fancy new logo.
Kicking off with Action Comics #1061 and running to #1063, ‘I, Bizarro’ sees the recently-returned to DC writer Jason Aaron team up with artist John Timms.
“I’ve been writing comics for almost 20 years, and I’ve certainly enjoyed my share of special moments and exciting projects along the way, but getting to write Superman for the very first time, in the pages of Action Comics no less, the one that started it all, goes down as one of the absolute most significant honors of my career,” said Aaron. “So the amazing John Timms and I are doing our very best to give readers a Superman tale full of action and surprises, the most Bizarro of all Bizarro stories, in what Bizarro himself would call the worst Bizarro story ever told’!”
You can check out a gallery of covers for Action Comics #1061 below, as well as a sketch of Supes and Bizarro.
This will be followed up in April’s Action Comics #1064 by ‘House of Braniac’, by Joshua Williamson and artist Rafa Sandoval, in an arc that will cross over with the main Superman book, also penned by Williamson.
“We’ve been building to Brainiac’s epic return since Superman #1 and the start of Dawn of DC,” said Williamson. “This crossover will have massive ramifications not just for Superman but across all of the DC Universe. Plus, it’s a fun roller coaster ride with Superman, Lex Luthor, Lobo, Supergirl, and the Super-Family up against Brainiac and a Czarnian army. It’s going to be full of surprises, new ideas, and the same kind of tone that we’re presenting in the Superman series. I’m pumped to be working with Rafa again, and the pages have been bonkers. It’s everything I love about Superman and his mythology but turned up to 11.”
These are just the first two phases of what looks set to be a seriously exciting year for Superman. Keep an eye on Newsarama for more on the Superman Superstars initiative as soon as it’s revealed.
That could work, depending on the other arcs.
Bit disappointed Dark Nights of Steel is being spun out as a general line, was hoping Taylor would continue it.

Great news. That was a good run.
Yeah, that’s fantastic. I mean, it’s terrible they cancelled the run in the first place and it just shows how all over the place they are over there that they’re doing it as a mini years later… but still, I’ll take what I’ll get.
But as it turns out, Dream himself needs John’s help. Something terrible has taken root in America, and it’s using the sand from Dream’s pouch to impose its will.
Huh. There’s a Corinthian tie there, it seems.
Holy shit! An eight issue Black Label continuation of Hellblazer by Spurrier-Campbell starting Jan 2024
I’m thrilled about this. DC were insane to cancel that last series – it was so good! I’m thrilled that they have come to their senses at last and will give Spurrier and Campbell a chance to wrap up their dangling plot threads. Unfortunately, I no longer have the original issues as I sold them off in disgust at the cancellation so that’s a bit of a bummer. First world problems!
On the positive side, we did get Damn Them All out of the cancellation though, along with this wrap up, so it probably all worked out for the best in the end.
DC Solicitations for January 2024
DC Solicitations for February 2024
This may change for me over time, as future issues are solicited and artists return. But currently? DC seem to he starting off their titles with a big opening arc then the artist moves on.
Looks to be so on Superman, Titans, Batman and Robin. Of course artists need a break, but what’s not clear is if they will be back at all. Which does take it into the area of the publisher seeing artists as interchangeable in a way they do not do to writers.
I saw this morning that FP has listed some of the “compact comics” cheap digest editions that DC has coming out next year – just £6.20 a pop for complete collections of All-Star Superman and Watchmen, plus the likes of Batman: Hush and the Court Of Owls story.
At these great prices I’m definitely going to pick some of these up for friends and family. I think it’s a good initiative – let’s hope it gets some new readers into comics.

Good to see Bruno Redondo back on Nightwing #114.
I loved this book last year, but #101 upwards (with the exception of Redondo’s last issue, #105) along with what I’ve read of Taylor’s Titans and Beast World so far, have been an absolute chore to get through. Just completely mediocre comics.
I’m hoping Redondo’s return will elevate the book once more. The solicitation does seem to imply a pretty climatic arc. At the very least, it will look pretty.
DC Announces Move Back to Wednesdays for New Comics – ComicBook.com
DC is about to shake up the comic book industry once again. On Thursday, as part of their presentation at the ComicsPRO Comic Industry Conference, DC announced plans to move back to a Wednesday release schedule for their new weekly comics. This move will take effect on Wednesday, July 3rd, and will only affect single issues. New collected editions and graphic novels from DC will still be released on Tuesdays.
DC initially pivoted to Tuesday from the industry standard of Wednesday in 2020, amid supply chain disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. That initial decision also came amid the company’s distribution move from Diamond Comics to Lunar Distribution and Penguin Random House, with other publishers like Marvel and IDW soon following suit.
Waid & Mora’s ABSOLUTE POWER changes the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe – Comics Beat
The new DC summer event series ABSOLUTE POWER finds all metahumans stripped of their powers by Amanda Waller.
The superpowered heroes and villains of the DC Universe are about to find themselves powerless – literally. As part of their ComicsPro presentation today DC Comics announced Absolute Power, a new four-issue summer event series from writer Mark Waid and artist Dan Mora. The series finds all metahumans in the DCU stripped of their powers by the Dawn of DC’s overarching antagonist, Amanda Waller.
Here’s how DC describes Absolute Power:
Helmed by the critically-acclaimed duo of writer Mark Waid and artist Dan Mora, this four-issue series launches July 2 and shows how Waller will use the strategic and military might of Failsafe and the otherworldly technology of the Brainiac Queen to steal all metahuman abilities from every super hero and super-villain around the globe, a threat so dire it will take the combined efforts of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Super Heroes of the DC Universe to defeat it.
Ahead of the July launch of the four-issue miniseries, one of DC’s Free Comic Book Day offerings in May will feature a 12-page prelude story to the event, written by Waid and illustrated by Mikel Janín. In June DC will also release Absolute Power: Ground Zero, a one-shot written by Waid that, according to DC, “will bridge the shocking conclusion of the Superman story ‘House of Brainiac’ with Amanda Waller’s machinations in Absolute Power.”
Absolute Power is the latest DC event series to be written by Waid, who also spearheaded 2022’s Batman vs. Robin and its larger spinoff event, 2023’s Lazarus Planet. That story featured a number of tie-in one-shots, and it’s a safe bet Absolute Power will follow suit. It’s the first event series to feature Mora on art, and it’s the latest collaboration between the artist and Waid, along with their work on Batman/Superman: World’s Finest and Shazam!.
While the Titans were at the center of the most recent DC event, Beast World, the description of this story sounds like the focus will be more on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and that generation of heroes. The Justice League has been absent from the DCU since the team’s apparent death in 2022’s Justice League #75 – could this new event herald their return? Waid and Mora would make a pretty amazing creative team for the world’s greatest heroes.
Check out a few in-progress pages from the upcoming event below. The Absolute Power Free Comic Book Day Special Edition is due out on Saturday, May 4th. The Ground Zero one-shot will follow in June, and the first issue of the series proper lands in stores and digitally on Tuesday, July 2nd.

Interesting idea – basically sounds like a DC version of Marvel’s Epic Collection TPBs. At least between this and the Compact Comics collections DC are trying ways to get books into the hands of young readers in an affordable way.

Great creative team, pity the concept is so boring.
Maybe they’ll liven things up by having Waller jailed at the end instead of escaping to do the same crap again and again.

A definitive full stop at the end of this would be nice. Unlikely. But, nice.
It wasn’t reported here, but BC talks about Waid writing 25 issues of Absolute Power over the summer – FCBD, the one shot, the four issue mini, 3x three issue mini’s (or maybe tie in issues of their regular ongoings) for Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, a 3 issue Origins mini, and a seven issue “Task Force 7” mini.
I love Waid, but that’s a lot to commit to. Especially on a pretty tiresome premise. The rationale part of me says just read it on DCUI instead and pick up a hardcover or something down the road if it’s really good.
Not that I’m always rationale when it comes to comic books. I’ve just pre-ordered the DC/Marvel Omnibus books even though I own most of the content already
I’m sick of DC’s current obsession with Waller.
Isn’t there a Waller TV series coming soon? This sounds like it’s “corporate synergy”.

Interesting rumour.
(It’s been several days since DC rebooted their continuity so they’re probably due another one soon.)
If they don’t call it Absolute Comics Detective Comics I will cry.
