This looks fun: Please come look at Batman’s origin story in the comic where the Justice League are dinosaurs
Writer Daniel Warren Johnson and artist Juan Gedeon were influenced by many classical works in the making of Jurassic League, like Street Sharks and Primal Rage, and their pages reveal more — a Batsaur with the bulky shapes of The Dark Knight Returns and the Joker-connected origin story of Batman (1989). From that bubbling cauldron of ingredients they have depicted Batman’s origin in a truly original way, one that fostered within me the immediate and strong need to shove the book in front of the face of every person I know, yelling “LOOK AT THIS!”
Hey Sean, did you get to sign up to DC Infinite in the end? It apparently launches in the U.K. tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to subscribing officially to it, but the website still says it is US only for me at the moment. Hoping that’s just a holding page that will open up in the morning.
Oh yeah. I got a 7-day free trial (with a warning after 6 days) and then my credit card was charged after 7 days.
Very clear about the early bird pricing and the fact that the price stays the same for renewal annually.
Actually haven’t used a lot as I downloaded the app to my phone. I will now look into purchasing a good tablet to read, but life is pretty busy. Soon though.
Quick thoughts on the app is, well, it could be better.
Other than that I’m very, very happy in theory.
Good luck!
Sean – for a tablet for reading comics have a look at the Samsung Galaxy TabS7 FE.
It’s got an extra big screen (over 12″) but is still affordable, most big screen tablets cost at least twice as much. I was annoyed I bought a new tablet about a month before they released it or I would have got it. Most of what I do with my tablet is read comics so I’m not that bothered about specs, a big screen is cool because it makes every comic oversized.
U.K. app is finally up on iOS. Subscription through iTunes, which is a bit annoying. But £36.99 for a year is pretty epic value for money. I think the Android app is up too.
Haven’t explored it too much but it already appears to work a little quicker and smoother than trying to access the U.S. version over VPN. Which is nice.
Everyone I did a short in the #DCPride special which has a Final Order Cutoff for Sunday. I am so jazzed to be working with Devin Grayson, @ArtofNickRobles and @adityab! Please pre-order if you can!
I have also wanted to work on a Superman comic and I'm SO happy it's this one! pic.twitter.com/NAJnqU0BI5

Looks like the focus of the series is going to switch in the second half, away from the Bat-family, to a more esoteric ensemble. Good stuff.
Black Canary has broken her stick :(

Bruce Campbell to Make DC Comics Debut With Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead – ComicBook.com
Actor, director, and cultural icon Bruce Campbell is headed to the world of DC Comics. On Thursday, DC announced that Campbell will be writing DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock Vs. The Army of the Dead, an upcoming six-issue miniseries under the publisher’s DC Horror banner. With art by Eduardo Risso, the miniseries will recontextualize the adventures of Sgt. Rock, who has been a mainstay of DC since being created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert in 1959’s Our Army at War #83. DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock Vs. The Army of the Dead #1 will be released on September 27th.
In DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock Vs. The Army of the Dead, the story begins in Berlin, 1944. The Nazis are flanked on all fronts by the combined Allied forces, and defeat seems inevitable. In a last-ditch effort to turn the tide of the war, Hitler and his team of evil scientists create a serum that resurrects their dead soldiers, creating an army of the dead even stronger than they were in life. Sgt. Rock, hero of the European Theatre, and his Easy Company find themselves dispatched into enemy territory to face off against the strangest, most horrific enemies they’ve encountered yet: Nazi Zombies.
Issue #1 of DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock Vs. The Army of the Dead will feature a main cover from Gary Frank (Supergirl), with a “Duffel Bag Gore” variant cover drawn by Frank Quitely (The Authority). There will also be a variant cover drawn by Francesco Francavilla (Batman: Black Mirror), a 1:25 variant from Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead), a 1:50 variant drawn by Chris Mooneyham (Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox), a 1:100 variant by Pia Guerra (Y: The Last Man).
“I’m writing a comic book for a major comic book company right now,” Campbell revealed while appearing on Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew podcast in late 2021. “And it’s six issues that you’ve gotta plot out. And I cannot just sit there with a pen in my mouth… looking at a blank page… I want to figure it out scene by scene and know where the story’s going. Cause I can actually step back from that board and look at the entire story and go, ‘Hmm, that first part’s a little lopsided… ohh that middle’s a little fat over there.’ So you can get to it before you even write a word. It still may suck, granted, but I like going in with some kind of discipline. I’ll start early in the morning and by noon my brain is leaking out through my nose and it’s time to cut the grass or go swimming or something physical.”
DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock Vs. The Army of the Dead #1 will be released on September 27th wherever comics are sold.

An interesting PR own goal from DC here.
Jorge Molina drew this cover for DC’s “Hispanic Heritage Month”…
It was based on this original by Jorge González Camarena:
The original was slightly unfinished and couldn’t be used for legal reasons. But DC retouched it quite significantly and are publishing it in this form:
Yes, that is a bag of tamales they’ve added.
Molina does not seem happy about it.
HAAAAAAARD to keep my mouth shut….all I can say is one has my signature and the other one doesn’t, go figure.
— Jorge Molina (@jorge_molinam) August 27, 2022
Also, looking at the other covers for this special month, every single one is food-based:
It all just smacks of carelessness and cackhandedness. Even on an editorial level, there should have been some coordination to make sure these covers didn’t all use similar ideas. As it is, it makes the whole thing seem tin-eared and stereotypical and pretty much undermines the whole idea.
Anyone having problems logging into DCU Infinite right now? It has booted me out and I can’t get back in. I’m on iOS.

WOW. Those are just bad. While the Kyle Rayner one is extra cringey, the Hawkgirl one takes it to a whole new level by making her a waitress.
or is it DC screwing up?
If this is an option, this is the answer.

If this is an option, this is the answer.
It’s ALWAYS the answer.
But more seriously, what is with all the covers having food? Is it that major part of hispanic identity or is it DC screwing up?
I mean, let’s be honest, if I say “Mexican” you immediately think “food”, right?

Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths launches a new Dawn of the DCU – GamesRadar/Newsarama
As DC’s Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths event continues, the DC Universe is being reshaped. Now, the publisher has announced the next editorial era for its comics: Dawn of the DCU. And it all spins out of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7, the series finale, hitting shelves December 20.
more in link, kind of. There’s a ton of variant covers you can speculate on (like the Batman/Superman/Green Lantern fusion Waid introduced)
But my brand new top-notch computer had three browsers open (should be nothing), and froze like it was 1999.
Fuck.
Seven Dawn of the DCU questions and observations – GamesRadar/Newsarama/poweredbySatan
How will the ‘Dawn of the DCU complement (or not) the New Golden Age that was announced last month?
Who will be the creative driving force of Dawn of the DCU?
Who is present (and not) on the cover art probably says something about Dawn of the DCU
The Brave and the Bold … again?
How big of a splash will The Dawn of the DCU make in January?
What’s up with Nightwing?
Didn’t the DCU already Dawn?
It’d be nice if Mark Waid gets more, share main-driving force duties with Tom Taylor.
Keep Geoff Johns nearby, and if you’re forced, Bendis gets a chair at the table (or cut ties if you can, but he can’t be in top 3 creative driving forces).
After that it’s pure speculation, and what could be realistic?
If there’s a vision/path to get Warren Ellis to respectability, go ahead.
Is Hickman open to something? If it helps a future movie, maybe they open the wallet?
In my head, both are either in the 31st Century, or Kirby’s 4th World.
Or it’s just every two and a half years we swap.
2023 to mid-2025 is original Superman, WW, Bats, GL.
mid-2025 to 2027 is Jonathan, Nadia, Jace, brand-new GL that’s not white (shocking!)
2028 to mid-2030 – 90th Anniversary bitches!
Is it actually going to be another reboot?

Legion fandom detectives are on the case!
The series coordinators for Dark Crisis have confirmed that there will be a relaunch of the DCU after the series finishes and, interestingly, Flashpoint Beyond #3 featured this little vision in hypertime [panel shows what appear to be the original Legion founders]. Perhaps the relaunch will feature a different Legion. This is DC, so who knows.
Issue 2: We have to kill Flash. As a vampire, he will destroy the world.
Issue 6: 'aight, now let's FUCKING BURN DOWN ALL THE FORESTS IN THE WORLD to "stop the humans from resisting."
…why do some people think #DcVsVampires is good, again?
— CoolShades (@JackShades13) September 20, 2022
Not sure who this guy is, but the forests were burned down to: a) destroy the raw materials that are known to kill vampires; b) create smoke that helps to block out the sun, that coincidently, also is known to kill vampires. Seems like a pretty sensible course of action to me, if I were a blood sucking vampire.
Flash was taken out so that he didn’t eliminate the entire food chain that vampires rely upon at super speed.
The primary goal was to get rid of the wood that is harmful to vampire kind. Humans don’t need wood to survive. Other plants will suffice for food and oxygen production.
Burning down the forests is really stupid. The smoke will never truly black out the sun and there are so many trees everywhere, not to mention wood products like furniture, that can be used to make weapons.
Not having read the story, I guess it was done for dramatic effect but it doesn’t hold up to critical thought.
And the DC Universe won’t stand for that.
If we’re going to add logic to proceedings, blocking out the sun by mystical means, is a really dumb thing to do too (which is what they actually did). All plant life will die in the absence of sunlight, and humans likewise in due course from the absence of food and being hunted by an unchecked vampire population. Which, would then result in the vampires dying off too. Eventually. The whole thing is just so fucking stupid. Why am I still reading this shit?!
Why am I still reading this shit?!
Sounds like this should be the book’s official tagline.

Because it’s like a trainwreck. You want to turn away but you can’t. You just want to see how the whole thing ends.
Also, Rosenberg and Tynion kinda play fast and loose with who can be turned and who can’t,e.g. Starfire and Martian Manhunter can’t be turned but Superman and Wonder Woman can.
As for the blocked sun, there was a workaround mentioned in the spinoff mini now running concurrently. In one part of the world,a small patch of sunlight is allowed to feed the source of a plant-based nutrient sludge used to feed the human livestock. That source? Swamp Thing.
DC’s Answer To Doctor Strange Was Doomed Because of His Terrible Name
Doctor Fate?
(Except, really, Doctor Strange was Marvel’s answer to Doctor Fate.)
Cool Superman news from NYCC.
After the Kal-El Returns crossover and Action Comics #1050, Tom Taylor will be reving the Adventures of Superman book. Clayton Henry on art, Jonathan Kent the lead character.
DC Universe Infinite has launched an Ultra membership tier that gives you access to an expanded back catalogue and new releases 1 month after publication. Instead of 6 months on the regular membership.
I’ve had a total nightmare upgrading it this week. The app was buggy as hell but I managed to get it working this evening. And now I literally have access to comics on here that I’ve bought in physical form yet still sit in my “to read” pile!
The Ultra tier is twice as expensive as the regular subscription £101.99 vs £54.99. But, until the end of Nov it is discounted to £72.99/ year as long as you keep your membership going. I originally signed up a few months ago, at £36.99 for the year, but I’m told that I’ll get a prorated refund for the amount I haven’t used as well. Which is an unexpected bonus.
Working out at £6/ month for access to the entire DC library is an absolute bargain. With the value of the pound tanking as it has recently that’s less than the cost of two comics a month. This is an absolute game changer for me.
I dropped pretty much all my physical Marvel books when Marvel Unlimited went to a 3 month release window (except for Wells/ Romita Jr Amazing Spider-Man and the odd mini-series). I’ll be doing likewise with my DC’s going forwards too.

That is a great deal!
I wonder if Marvel and DC are edging closer to a premium tier that has day and date access for new books? I can see them apprehensive about going there as it could damage physical sales.
I do wonder how the financials work on something like this. It’s probably fair to say I currently buy on average something like 10 DC titles a month. At $3.99 each, that’s $40 a month, and $480 a year.
How much of that flows back to DC? I assume the comic shop takes a chunk, as do the distributors. Does DC get half? Less?
Generously, let’s say DC get $200 of that. What’s their operating profit on that, after costs? Probably $50, maybe?
In comparison, my $100 subscription probably offers them a far higher profit margin as there are no physical costs involved. Just an insignificant amount of virtual infrastructure.
If I drop every physical book and go purely digital, I think DC still make more money from me in this. Diamond and my LCS less.
I wonder if there is a point, however, where that is no longer sustainable. If the majority of people flip to this digital subscription model they can no longer spread editorial costs over the physical product.
Interesting stuff.
How much of that flows back to DC? I assume the comic shop takes a chunk, as do the distributors. Does DC get half? Less?
Less. The normal breakdown for publishing is the retailer pays half cover price. So your $3.99 is immediately down to $1.98, add in printing and distribution costs I’d estimate they take back around a quarter or $1 from each sale.
Spoilers for Flashpoint Beyond # 6…
Who are the 13? DC just retconned new Golden Age characters into continuity – Newsarama/GamesRadar
Meet the 13 characters retroactively added to DC’s Golden Age era in Flashpoint Beyond #6
Flashpoint Beyond #6 is now on sale, and the conclusion of the limited series does a little more messing with DC’s timeline by introducing 13 new characters whose backstories have been retconned into the DC Universe.
In the finale, the Time Masters discover that 13 characters who were held captive outside of the timestream have been reintegrated into DC history, effectively retroactively inserting characters who never existed in the real world Golden Age of the ’30s and ’40s into the Golden Age of DC continuity.
“In a lot of these events, the characters come back. There are a lot of characters that come back,” Flashpoint Beyond co-writer Geoff Johns tells Newsarama of the decision to retcon characters into the Golden Age.
“We wanted to really introduce new characters and not just new characters moving forward, but characters that existed in the Golden Age to flesh out the Golden Age,” he continues. “So the new Golden Age doesn’t just mean ‘the new Golden Age moving ahead,’ it’s talking about the new JSA book and what that legacy looks like and where those characters are going.”
“But it also goes back with these characters that were from the 1940s, that were pulled from history and are going back into it. So now, we can tell stories in the past that you won’t know. The past isn’t exactly what you’ve seen. You’ve not seen every tale.”
As for who the 13 characters being retconned into DC’s Golden Age are, some of them have names that point to specific connections to established characters in DC history, while others appear to be invented whole cloth for the story. Here’s what we know about all 13 characters:
Golden Age Mister Miracle
There’s no actual Golden Age Mister Miracle in real-world comics from the ’40s, but DC fans will immediately know the modern-day character of Mister Miracle, introduced by Jack Kirby in the ’70s.
Mister Miracle, AKA Scott Free, is the original Mister Miracle, and a member of the New Gods. So is this a version of him from the past, or another hero to use the name Mister Miracle?
Golden Age Red Lantern
Like Mister Miracle, there is no Golden Age Red Lantern. But there is a Golden Age Green Lantern, the original hero to use the name, Alan Scott.
Alan Scott didn’t originally have any connection to the modern Green Lantern or the concept of the “emotional spectrum,” but given the modern lore around the concept of the Green Lanterns and their multicolored counterparts, the invention of a Golden Age Red Lantern makes sense as a retcon.
Betsy Ross
There’s not a classic DC hero by the name of Betsy Ross (which is, of course, the name of the woman credited with sewing the original version of the American Flag in the 18th century). But oddly enough, there is a Betsy Ross in Marvel Comics.
The Marvel version of Betsy Ross actually does date back to the Golden Age. She was the original love interest of Captain America, who later became the hero known as Golden Girl. But we’re guessing there’s no connection to the new DC character.
Molly Pitcher
Like Betsy Ross, Molly Pitcher is a name taken from American history as the nickname of a woman who supposedly fought in the American Revolutionary War.
DC has never had a hero named Molly Pitcher before, but weirdly enough, 1957’s Wonder Woman #87 contains a prose essay about the historical Molly Pitcher.
Ladybug
DC has a whole Multiverse of realities, and one of them, Earth-8, is home to a group known as the Retaliators who are in fact parodies of the Avengers – including Ladybug, based on Spider-Woman.
There’s also of course the cartoon superhero Ladybug, star of the animated series Miraculous, but we’re gonna go out on a limb and guess DC’s new Ladybug will have nothing to do with that.
Salem, the Witch Girl
The apparent DC connection for the newly created Salem, the Witch Girl is Jack Kirby’s ’70s character Klarion, the Witch Boy.
Originally introduced as the enemy of Etrigan the Demon, Klarion the Witch Boy is a juvenile sorcerer from the extra-dimensional realm of Witch World.
John Henry, Jr.
Fans of Superman will likely immediately be reminded of the hero Steel AKA John Henry Irons, but there may be a different DC legacy for John Henry, Jr.
In Darwyn Cooke’s mid-’00s limited series New Frontier, a retelling of the origins of DC’s Silver Age, there’s a hero named John Henry who is retconned into DC history, but who hasn’t appeared elsewhere. Could there be a connection between that character and John Henry Jr?
The Harlequin’s Son
No, not Harley Quinn – Harlequin. The original Golden Age Harlequin was a clown-themed villain who fought the Golden Age Green Lantern, Alan Scott, while the second was a member of the Teen Titans in the ’70s.
Interestingly enough, the name “The Harlequin’s Son” seems to be a reference to the second Harlequin’s original codename, the Joker’s Daughter.
Judy Garrick
Judy Garrick has been introduced in DC before Flashpoint Beyond #6, as the apparent daughter of Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash. She was mentioned by name in 2021’s Stargirl Spring Break Special and in Flashpoint Beyond #2, though she has yet to actually appear on the page.
Judy is a modern character retconned into the current DC Universe, though Jay’s wife, Joan Garrick, has appeared numerous times over the decades.
The Golden Age Legionnaire
There’s no actual Golden Age hero named Legionnaire – but as many fans will immediately recognize, the name does have a DC pedigree.
Members of the 31st-century superhero team the Legion of Super-Heroes are known as Legionnaires – so this character could be DC making use of the term, or they could have a connection to the Legion in some way.
Cherry Bomb
Speaking of the Legion, not everyone who tries out for the team is accepted. And some of those who don’t make the cut wind up holding a grudge against the venerable superhero team.
Case in point, Cherry Bomb, one of four Legion rejects who teamed up to fight the team. Whether the character introduced here will have any connection to the Legion version, we’ll have to wait and see.
Quiz Kid
There’s no prior mainstream DC character named Quiz Kid. But the one introduced in Flashpoint Beyond #6 could be an adaptation of the character Kwiz Kid, a villain who has appeared in comics based on the animated Teen Titans Go! continuity.
There’s also the possibility that he’s somehow related to Golden Age villain Brain Wave or his son, the hero known as Brainwave Jr.
The Golden Age Aquaman
The original Aquaman, Arthur Curry, debuted back in the Golden Age in 1941, and when his JSA counterparts were revived on Earth-Two in the ’60s, the Golden Age Aquaman came along with them (you can tell him apart from Earth-One Aquaman because he has yellow gloves).
But the implication here seems to be the introduction of an Aquaman to predate Arthur Curry in continuity, or perhaps another alt-version of Arthur Curry himself, similar to the Superman of Earth-Two.
Meet the 13 characters retroactively added to DC’s Golden Age era in Flashpoint Beyond #6
Ooh, I can hardly wait to collect all the new action figures!!
So both on my tablet and my phone I have troubles trying to upgrade DCU Infinite to Ultra.
At least they don’t waste my time and give me a “an unexpected error has occured. Please contact Support” message.
I have until November 28th for the initial pricing, but will keep trying sooner than that.
Are you on iOS, Sean? As I said, upgrading my account was an absolute bloody nightmare too.
When I initially upgraded I ended up having two subscriptions running in parallel. I think that confused the app and I kept getting the error message that you are seeing too.
After a day or two of messing about I cancelled my second subscription, and upgraded from my iPhone subscription directly (rather than through the app). That did the trick and everything worked afterwards.
Maybe worth a try? Even if you’re on Android a similar approach might work?
No, Android for both tablet and phone (Samsung).
I’ll send a message to support tonight. Not worried right now, but definitely want in on the early-bird pricing.
But really, you’d think they’d have all the bugs worked out by now.
DC Solicitations for January 2023
Curious to know what DC titles everyone is currently reading. I’m loving The Flash (with Wally West as the main Flash again), Action Comics, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest, Poison Ivy and Teen Justice (which will conclude with issue #6). I want to get in to Zdarsky’s Batman but at this point I might wait for the trades.
I recently got DC Infinite but have mostly been reading older stuff. I do intend to move on to the current Nightwing and Zdarsky’s Batman as they have been getting very good write-ups.
I’m enjoying Zdarsky’s Batman and Sean Murphy’s latest White Knight series.
Also really enjoying Mark Russell and Mike Allred’s Superman: Space Age which is shaping up to be much bigger in scope than I anticipated.
Other than that, Ram V’s recently concluded Swamp Thing run was decent (although probably shouldn’t have been extended as it felt a bit thin by the end) as was Cliff Chiang’s Catwoman: Lonely City that also just finished. And the two issues so far of Wonder Woman: Historia have been very strong.
I’m also picking up Tom King and Phil Hester’s Gotham City: Year One which is ok although it’s not wowing me yet.
DC currently has very few outstanding books, but a lot of very solid and enjoyable ones.
Nightwing, since Tom Taylor and Bruno Renaldo took over is perhaps their best title at the moment. But, that in part relies upon your nostalgia and affection for the 1990’s. Which, given you’re enjoying The Flash with Wally West is perhaps a given.
The Flash, Action Comics, Batman, World’s Finest, Batman vs Robin, Dark Crisis. All solid superhero books.
Haven’t got round to it yet but Ram V’s Detective Comics, with Simon Spurrier on backups, sounds excellent.
I have enjoyed DC vs Vampires much more than expected. It has genuinely been one of my favourite titles for the last year.
And, I am very much looking forward to the relaunched WildC.A.T.s, although I suspect that I might be the only one.
Many of the Black Label books have been excellent too, although those are very much creator centric books. Tom King’s books tend to work very well continuity adjacent, rather than in the mainstream DCU.
I’m also intrigued to see what the new year brings with the post- Dark Crisis “reboot”.
Haven’t got round to it yet but Ram V’s Detective Comics, with Simon Spurrier on backups, sounds excellent.
I tried the first couple of issues but it didn’t grab me. The story wasn’t very coherent or compelling. Maybe something to come back to in trade.
I am way behind on DC. I think the most recent mainstream stuff I read was Taylor’s Suicide Squad: Bad Blood. Really good series. Also Batman: Detective – he’s on a roll.
Been reading more Black Label trades – Get Joker and Reptilian were both excellent.
Stuff on the to-read list:
– King’s full Batman run
– Tynion’s Batman run
– Nightwing
– Superman: Son of Kal-el
– Tamaki’s Tec run
– Action Comics – Johnson
Plus a few miniseries and stuff to buy includes Waid’s World’s Finest.
Probably will nab Dark Crisis on trade just to see what they do, as they can be wonderfully bonkers.
One series I have to give a shout-out to, as it now has a second series, Naomi. Campbell’s art is superb and Bendis / Walker write it really well.
I unexpectedly loved Green Lantern over the last year. I had intended to stop after Morrison’s run (which I was starting to go cold on by the end, to be honest), but my LCS guy put in #1 of volume whatever by Geoffrey Thorne and I was hooked. It’s using a lot of “recent” continuity and characters that I don’t really know, but the characters are very well written and the continuity doesn’t bog down the plot or make it hard to follow. It’s really well written and has great art.

Really looking forward to the “One Minute War” event in The Flash. The book is going bi-weekly starting in January with #790 for the length of the story arc and DC is releasing a One Minute War special as well. Basically the entire Flash family (lead by Wally West) has to stop an invasion by an alien race known as The Fraction (named after Matt Fraction) which moves at super-speed.
I’ve really been enjoying Jeremy Adams run on the book so far and the idea of a war taking place over the span of 60 seconds (which most of Earth’s other heroes don’t know about) sounds intriguing.

The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country returns next year with The Glass House – Newsarama/GamesRadar
The Sandman Universe is expanding once more with a new Black Label series from James Tynion IV and Lisandro Estherren
The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country will continue in 2023 with The Glass House, which brings writer James Tynion IV and artist Lisandro Estherren back into the Sandman world for a new Black Label limited series.
“I’m thrilled to announce that Nightmare Country’s follow-up miniseries, The Glass House, is coming early in 2023,” Tynion says in the announcement.
“The Corinthian is going to be making his way to Silicon Valley, where he will go head-to-head with Angels, Demons, and a breed of creature far more terrifying that [sic] anything he’s faced before – Venture Capitalists. Lisandro and I are excited to continue this nightmare tour through modern America and can’t wait for you all to see what we’ve got in store for you.”
The Glass House will debut April 4, 2023, with main cover art by Reiko Murakami for issues #1 and #2 seen here. On the same day, DC will release collected editions of The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country in two different formats. The first, a hardcover, will include a mini-print of Death by Jenny Frison and it will be available wherever books are sold. The second, a softcover, will be available exclusively at direct market comic book stores.
Meanwhile, the Dead Boy Detectives will return to comics in a new series debuting in December, written by Pornsak Pichetshote and drawn by Jeff Stokely. The series will follow the titular ghost friends Edwin and Charles as they investigate the disappearance of a Thai American girl and end up on a crash course with Thessaly the witch.
“The brilliance of The Sandman is how seamlessly it fits different genres, histories, and folklores together,” Pitchetshote says. “Despite Thessaly the witch being a big player in James and Lisandro’s Nightmare Country, Dead Boy Detectives can still progress her story while telling this very personal horror tale about Thai ghosts in Los Angeles – in events that will go on and feed directly back into Nightmare Country.
“Doing that – the best parts of shared universe storytelling while telling boundary-pushing, yet still intimate, stories – it’s such a testament to the genius of The Sandman Universe.”
Both The Sandman Universe: Dead Boy Detectives #1 and The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country – The Glass House #1 will feature connecting foil variant covers by artist Yoshitaka Amano, seen above alongside cover art for the Nightmare Country collected editions and Frisson’s Death mini-print.
The Sandman Universe: Dead Boy Detectives #1 will go on sale December 27. The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country – The Glass House #1 and the collected editions of The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country will go on sale April 4, 2023.

The Titans will replace the Justice League as DC’s top superhero team – Newsarama/GamesRadar
…According to DC’s description of Nightwing #101, it’s Superman that tells Dick it’s his time to lead, and as a result, he gathers “group of friends to be the premier league in the DC Universe and moves their base of operations to Blüdhaven.”…
…The characters on the variant cover include Nightwing (naturally), Wally West, Donna Troy, Cyborg (who gets his own series later in 2023), Beast Boy, Starfire, and Raven…
…Now it looks like the Titans are stepping up in an even bigger way, taking the place of the Justice League as the DC Universe’s top heroes, again, at least for the immediate future. But that said, DC has not announced a new Titans series.
So for now, DC seems to be fulfilling Williamson’s promise that there is no Justice League and won’t be one anytime soon, as any mention of the team was notably absent in its Dawn of DC announcement of November 18. But all that said, the Titans’ worthiness to lead aside, an eventual return of a justice League is more likely a matter of when, and not if…

Spotted in DC’s March solicits – Christopher Priest is doing a 10-issue series Superman: The Lost.
From the sound of the concept, Superman being lost in space for 20 years! – it has to be a Black Label story.
Whatever it ends up being, I’m interested.
