We watched the Louis Theroux manosphere documentary on Netflix. Kind of interesting but also not really telling you anything you don’t know already, ie. that most of this is a grift preying on male insecurities, and becomes a gateway to harder rightwing content.
He mostly concentrates on a handful of lower-level male influencers rather than going after the bigger Tates of this world, which initially feels a bit deflating but arguably ends up more interesting as you see how banal and basic the way they operate is.
What he doesn’t really get into is why there are so many men who feel they have to turn to this kind of thing to feel fulfilled in life, which is a different but related topic.
