Been going through a few theme songs on youtube now, for research and entertainment purposes. Duck Tales, Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Rescue Rangers, and on…

While I do appreciate these songs, it got me thinking.

Is the concept of trousers to Disney what feet are to Liefeld? Hardly anyone’s wearing them!

LONG HARD TIMES TO COME, MOTHERFUCKERS!!!

Justified had fucking awesome opening credits. Going with Gangstagrass was just so perfect for the theme of this show.

It’s great opening credits, but do they qualify as a theme song? I mean, it’s the theme song thread, so… do they, Jerry?
    DO THEY???!!!

I actually just sat and watched through all of that – despite having heard them countless times before. It’s strange how the RTD era themes can still evoke a strong response in of me of “yes, Doctor Who’s on!”. Whereas the latest one just feels utterly uninspired. (and in case anyone thinks I’m just looking to be mean to Chibnall, I was also surprised how weedy and thin the Capaldi era theme sounds next to all the others).

The show may have disappeared up its own arse, but Westworld’s theme tune is still awesome.

Westworld’s theme tune is still awesome.

Those piano notes at the beginning are so moving and the background strings complement them perfectly.

My theme song choice I posted in the Quote snippets thread but the chorus is “you can’t take the sky from me”

When that “song” was available for purchase on iTunes, I bought it. 99 cents for 12 seconds of music. AND IT WAS WORTH EVERY CENT!!

    Is Godzooky a Kaiju?

    Is Godzooky a Kaiju?

    Godzilla (1978 TV series)

In regard to the origin of the series, Joseph Barbera came up with the idea of licensing Godzilla. He explained in a 1990s interview “My job back then was to dig up new characters, new ideas, new shows, and I had wanted to do Godzilla for awhile. I liked the monster thing, and the way it looked, and I thought we could do a lot with it. So I contacted Henry Saperstein, who was a very good friend and we got talking about it. Then there was an executive at the network who wanted to get into the act, and urged us to lighten the storyline up. So, I came up with the character Godzooky, who was like his son. The show had a sort of father-son relationship, which we had done before on shows like Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy and Jonny Quest.

Barbera also explained why the show had little violence and deviated from the source material. “The problem with the show was simply this: When they start telling you in Standards and Practices, ‘Don’t shoot any flame at anybody, don’t step on any buildings or cars,’ then pretty soon, they’ve taken away all the stuff he represents. That became the problem, to maintain a feeling of Godzilla and at the same time cut down everything that he did. We managed to get a fair show out of it. It was OK. Godzooky kind of got the kids going.”

    Is he a kaiju?

Sure, why not. He’s a monster.
